    Migrating Media from Older Isis Server

    Hi, my client needs to move all the media off an older Unity Isis server. They no longer have support for this system but they need to move all the media from it. When they attempt to copy the media, from a PC they get error message "Error 0x8007045D: The request could not be performed because of an I/O device error". On the Mac it says "'file' can't be read or written. (Error code-36)". When we attempted to copy/paste the media, the Mac gave the same code, then pasted a corrupt file.

    On the PC, it does allow you to move small filess like jpg and png but not footage.

    Here are the specs if helpful:

    EVO 16 Bay Base 16X12TB – 2X10GbE Optical;

    EVO Base System: 3U, 64bit Multi-core CPU, 16 Bay,

    192 TB RAW (16 x 12TB SATA 6Gb/s), 4 x 16b Ethernet,

    EVO Ethernet Expansion: Ports (iSCSI/NAS), 2 x 10GbE

    Optical, Asset Management, Cloud Access, Avid Project/Bin Sharing,

    Adobe and Apple Project Sharing, File/Volume Sharing, NAS (AFP/SMB/NFS/SFTP) and SAN in the same box.

    Can anyone share any tips on getting around these codes to move the media to another drive? Thanks!

    Are you able to copy footage to an internal or USB or Thunderbolt drive?

    Hi Dom,

    No, we can't copy to local or external. On the PC it spends a bit then gives the error code. Connecting from a Mac sometimes will copy the file over with the error code mentioned but the file will be corrupt, pixelated and incomplete.

    Have you checked the hardware if a drive is dead/dying?

    Have you try to reboot? We have been suggested to make a reboot every 4 weeks to prevent harddrives to fail.

    Hmm, how can you tell if the drive is dying? Also, what is the proper way to reboot the server?

    Thanks,

    Re: Migrating Media from Older Isis Server

    When one drive from our ISIS died, we got an error while consolidating. We also got some error logs in the ISIS web view.

    Login to the ISIS server using VNC or connect a monitor. Then look for the raid controller software

    ISIS 5000: Start->Programs->MegaRAID Storage Manager->StartupUI

    Login and the you see all drives in the tab "Physical". Look for "Media Error Count" and "Pred Fail Count" for each drive. They all should be 0.

    Reboot:

    - Disconnect all clients

    - login to ISIS server

    - Start "Avid ISIS System Director Control Panel"

    - Click "Stop System Director"

    - Reboot and make a coffee because it take at least 10 minutes Smile

    - you can check if the server is up by cmd-> ping "ISIS IP" -t

    Re: Migrating Media from Older Isis Server

    It looks like my client was unable to resolve the issue. I'm hoping someone on here can point me to an independent tech support person or company in the DMV, (Washington DC/Maryland or Virginia) area that could come in help us resolve the problem and recover the media from the server.

    Thanks everyone for the help.
