It denied my perpetual licence again today, (third time this week) but this time it really denied it hard. I have one computer called 'BASEMENT'. Avid Link says my licence is currently being used on a machine called 'BASEMENT', so I can't use it on my machine called 'BASEMENT'.
MyAvid.com shows that my licence is perpetual and expires around Mar 2023. It is being used on this 'BASEMENT" machine apparently. I try to deactivate it and it tells me to go to the licence page in Avid Link to do so.
This is the best part -> Avid Link also asks "Please go to the Licenses page in Avid Link to deactivate this license" while I am in Avid Link and on the licence page.
Hooray!
Well, after freaking out a bit, I decided, like an idiot, to buy a subscription, just so I could get to work and I get a deal by going from perpetual to subscription... Well $500 later, I'm waiting for whatever activation email Avid said they would send...
What's the hold up? Maybe they need some ancient accountant to arrive monday morning and thumb through various faxes or something?
Anyhow, just FYI
ADOBE CC - Email and Password and you're in
Avid - Sys Id, Activation Code, Email, Password, iLok, Sentinel and Avid Link, and it's a crap shoot
Update!! Avid Link is no longer garbage, it seems to work ok now.

I know, It's annoying.
Regarding your subscription, I'll try to help...
In your MyAvid account, you should see a list that looks like this:
Expand your Media Composer subscription option
Copy and Paste the System ID and Activation ID.
Go to Avid Link and hit license
Then Manual Activation:
And enter your system ID and activation ID from your MyAvid landing page here.
Hope that helps you.
Have you upgraded to Avid Link 21.12? That allows for activate/deactivate via Link, and the underlying licensing system has been overhauled.

Has the method I've outlined ^ changed in 21.12?
As I wrote, the entire underlying license management system has been overhauled. Your licenses can be activated/deactivated in the cloud now. You should even be allowed to deactivate your licenses remotely. The need to go through your My Products page should disappear entirely, and you should be able to access all your licenses straight from Link.
This new approach to licensing management has been in the works for quite some time, especially because of issues like the OP mentions. It used to be a lot of hassle for customers AND for support. The new system should make all of our lives easier.
*edit* Word is that you need to be on MC 21.9 (or later) for cloud licensing to work with Avid Link 21.12.
The "overhauled" license management system is killing me. I'm right now trying to get my perpetual license from one machine to another and am trapped in endlessly looping 101 errors. No support agents are availalbe. I've done all the steps correctly. I need help. Please.

For the time being downgrade avid link and do what I mentioned ^

Version parity is not required at all. In fact, keeping Link up-to-date is recommended, regardless of which version of MC you are on.

Do you know if there is a way to manually punch in a system ID and an activation code with this new version?
That didn't work.
I reinstalled Avid Link 21.6.1, followed all the steps.
I am up and running in Trial Mode, after deleting all the cache files like a pirate instead of a professional.
Philip Kapadia: Do you know if there is a way to manually punch in a system ID and an activation code with this new version?
Yes! Manual activation works the same as old versions of Avid Link. The automatic activate/deactivate in the new Avid Link (2021.12) is additional.

Not exactly, since 2021.12 update, everytime I boot one of my PC where Link is installed, it automatically gets the license. Not found a way to make it "additional".

Hi Mike. I'm terribly sorry for the experience you are having.
Reach out to me directly and I can get you completely set up. I'm at [email protected]
We can discuss whether you still need/want that new subscription or if you simply want the original to work and to get a refund. Totally open to your needs here. Side note - sometimes the purchase takes 1-2 business days to go through. It's rare, but it's been known to happen. Again, sorry for that.
Once you're up and running, and the urgency is gone, we can discuss the workflow with the new version of Link, and whatever issues it might be causing.
Thanks,
------

you're lucky, at least the lisence page exists for you. I have the same exact issue, absolutely no clue how it's gonna get fixed. Avid completely tripped over themselves trying to be cool and innovative, and now they're wasting everyone's money
Hello, I personally tried this and the activate button never showed up. Avid link is broken, completely locking me out of my subscription.

You should send an email to Chris Bové at Avid ([email protected]). He is their customer advocate and can help you.
