i'm confused. Looks like a 1 year renew on my perpetual license support is $499/.yr but a 1 year subscription would be $239. Not sure why anyone would renew license support. What am i missing? Wont existing BCC and Titler and other software work with either option?
FWIW: Videoguys has renewals (for perpetual) for 385 (Cyber Monday deal I think), and you can stack those (so if you were to get two or three of them, you would renew for two or three years in one sweep at the old price).
Do note that the 239/yr subscription (190 now at Videoguys) is for MC Standard (which means NO shared bins/projects support, unlike MC Perpetual, which does include shared bins/projects support).
Many ways to Rome, and the cheaper 1-yr subscription to Standard may be better for you.
I've put all of the many options in a document: http://www.terburg.com/EVEN/MC2021pricinglongterm.pdf
Hope this helps

Wait, do you want to keep the perpetual license? If not, turn off auto-renew. The new standard subscription plan would be a new product in your My Avid environment, with its own Sys ID and activation code. It then also shows up in Avid Link, and you would need to activate that new plan on your system in order to use it.
Hi Job.
It's a sad situation I am in. After nearly 25 years i will have to stop renewing my perpetual licence!
Simply I won't be able to pay for it! I had been unable to upgrade to a newer computer and also to upgrade to a new operating system so I cannot install the latest versions of Avid.
I still will be able to download the latest MC version by 12/12/2021 That's it.

Thanks again Job ter Burg, I went through your license chart, Thank you! it is ashame Avid dosn't explain it better. I have had a subscription with Avid since the early/mid 90's, Basically I use Avid MC to edit, color correction is done in Resolve, GFX are done with AE, so hopefully this down grade to standard from perpetual will not be noticed. Thanks again
Thank you for information!
Thanks for the document it's very helpful. I just renewed my perpetual license support with the videoguys offer and was balancing the options. I did not realise that I could go for MC standard subscription to save some money and still use the add-ons I already own (symphony and phrase find). I might do that next year if avid perpetual renewals pricing doesn't drop back to a similar price as the standard subscription. Plus i would keep my perpetual on another computer...
I don't use media central, mimiq and shared storage but sometimes collaborate with editors on projects by manually copying the mediafiles and the project folder to a drive to be used on another bay and we then exhange updated bins via email. Will this work with MC standard?

Yes.
I have a few days to decide on what to do. So if I go subscription I still can keep my perpetual license? Or am I giving that up and Avid will just give a new standard plan and remove the license I have?

If you choose the _crossgrade_ to MC Ultimate, you would give up your perpetual (and get a temporarily discounted price for Ultimate).
If you simply start a new subscription (either Standard or Ultimate), you get to keep you perpetual license. If you don't renew its support contract, that perpetual license will then be stuck at the last version it was ever blessed for (2021.9 if the support contract were to end today).
