We often run into the problem, that subcap title get changed, if someone else is opening the sequenze.
if so the title´s don´t have their position right, they are not centered, have a changed font size, so pretty much everything.
Why are those important informations, not stored in the subcap effects?
It should be possible the open up a project all over the world with no issues, right?
I think this is also a problem, that we have for decades. I remember, that i was told to use just windows preinstalled fonts, like Arial or Time New Roman. But not every client is happy with that font and they demand to use their own typo.
Feature request would be, to modernize the Subcap effect, so that the parameter are all stored even if you don´t have the right font installed. You need to know which settings are made to have a consitend edit.
Doesn't the subcap effect properties have the option for Global Track or clip based properties?
If that is left as global properties I think moving the sequence to a different system will adobt the global properties for that system.
I tend to always set it for track based and then if needed I adjust particular text elements for clip based.
And yes using different fonts can be an issue as Avid will substitute the font if it can't find it. there is a file that record sthat info that you can modify but I've found making sure you install the required font before you open the project is safest.

we normally do the same, by putting the all syncs to track. so it should be working with other systems, but it allways feels unsafe to open videos with subcap effetcs on another system...
And Media Comopser will not tell you, that it had changed some of the settings. So you never will find out what was the right settings.
Pat Horridge:And yes using different fonts can be an issue as Avid will substitute the font if it can't find it.
That isn't an oddity of Avid's. It's a common solution to the missing font issue.
