Scale Timeline with the mouse scroll Wheel

I would like to scale the timeline using my mouse Scroll Wheel.  So when the mouse is hovering above the timeline, scrolling the wheel on your mouse would active the More / Less detail command.

It's very common in other media aplications.

When searching on the forums, I see a decade ago someone solving it with a third party app, which I'm not willing to get into.

Has anyone ever been able to acheive this?

    Thanks!

Re: Scale Timeline with the mouse scroll Wheel

Honestly, I use the keyboard CTRL+] (zoom-in) and CTRL+[ (zoom-out) and CTRL+/ (show entire timeline)

I'm sure the 3rd party app probably mapped mouse wheel to these keyboard commands.

Sorry that's not the answer you were looking for.

    Terry,

What type of mouse are you using? Is it the stock 2 button mouse that came with the PC?

    Hi all,

    thanks for the responses.

I'm using a 3rd party mouse.  It's an RGB gaming mouse:

Would the type of mouse make a difference for this?

All good, thanks for the response.

Yeah I'm trying to teach my hands to use the arrow keys.  It requires more back and forth hand fidlig, but that seems to be the way everyone else has been doing it for years.

Maybe later I'll get brave and use the key mapping software :)

Yeah - key mapping is your best bet. If you can key map the scroll wheel or even the thumb buttons on that particular mouse to the UP and DOWN arrow on your keyboard, that should work well.

Have fun with entering a feature request for this. It might be done before the singularity.
