I was handed a project edited in Media Composer First. This was a mistake and shouldn't have been done.

Anyway, when I try to open the bins or projects in Media Composer, it says it can't open media first projects. So I read about this and understand the issue of incompatability between the two.

So I figured i could just install Media Composer first and then export the sequences with burn in source timecodes so they could be recreated in regular Media Composer.

The problem, now, is that when I try to download Media first -- even when it specifcally says I'm getting first -- a regular version of media composer installs. So despite trying many times, I can seem to download or install media composer first.

Has anyone else had this issue? Thanks.

    Hi lukeheyne,

In Avid Link go to Products and click the license deactivate your MC license. The next time you launch MC the activation window will appear, select MC|First. You need to register your email address to get MC|First entitlement.

The installer for First and regular MC is the same installer. It just the licensing that alters how that application launches and works.
