Keeping the Red Arrow tool active after an extraction or lift

When I make an edit, lift or extraction, the tool I was working with (the Red arroow) gets replaced with the generic mouse pointer.  I then need to reactivate the tool I was working with to move the clips around the timeline after every edit.

How do I keep the tool I was working with active instead of the mouse reverting back to it's Win 10 pointer after each extraction or lift?  Thanks,

I believe it's the smart tool function I am fighting this as well. If you turn off smart tool and map the overwright tool "red arrow" and the insert tool "yellow arrow " to your keyboard then you can get them faster

The yellow and the red arrow tools are mapped by default right of the JKL keys, IIRC!

For the left hand default key shortcuts are Shift-A and Shift-S for red/yellow arrows. That's very comfortable for use.

Believe I have found a solution.  The issue has to do with the Red Arrow turning to the gneric mouse pointer after each edit I was making, and there is a way to stop this.

Go to timeline settings and then the Edit Tab.  There are two settings to play with.  1) Clicking on TC track...  2) Only One Segment Tool...   I have unclicked the first and clicked the second and now the Red Arrow remains active after an edit so I can then move the clip.  Hope this helps.
