In the post above I had created the screenshots of the windows to show the differences, but the posted images are not visible! If I publish the post I see them in the editor, but not in the post! I then uploaded them to an online service to get a url, and resized, then inserted with the form function for the images ... but in no way can I insert them, they gave a fairly important contribution to the understanding of the process I described .... Can someone explain to me what I'm wrongthank you
You've done nothing wrong, the forum is just that bad. I always have a nightmare trying to upload and arrange images in a post. Seriously Avid, can you sort out this basic stuff on your forum?
I'd suggest linking to something like imgur or some external host, this forum is basically only good for text.

Really appreciate the extensive reply! I have tried every option available as recommended but Avid does not properly adapt to any settings if I want to color grade my ProRes Raw 12 bit Atomos Ninja footage from S1H or any ProRes Raw footage. I've tried using multiple valid transforms and luts but does not work properly. Hopefully Avid will implement a fix/proper transform that will work with Avid and Baselight for Color Grading application. I mean it's only been a year since they promoted this feature.....Come on Avid...

Alexander i have the lumix s1h and the ninja V, the process i have descritted to you work just percfect, i wil make a video right now so you can see!!!
That would be amazing!!!!!!! Would I be able to grade in Baselight for Avid too? Super excited if this works!!!!! Been to long since I've been able to use the ProRes Raw workflow. I've had to transcode or only use 10bit 422π₯²π₯²
appreciate the help and look forward to the video!!!! Thank you
Here I am, I apologize for my terrible English, I hope you will be able to understand something! Let me know if I have been useful to you, and if there is anything that you think is not correct!

EDIT: you can also dowload the file to see better... is 360p right now if you watch online, i hope google on some year can trascode to 1080p
Thank you for the video! So basically I do the same as you and I can get a correct exposure by using Linear/2020 transform , then using the Panasonic Raw to Log lut but as soon as I try to color grade using Baselight it crashes.
ive also tried your method using rgb and slog but still crashes. Basically I have to transcode the footage if I want to color grade the footage if using Baselight for Avid defeating the purpose of using ProRes Raw 12 bit footage π π
I guess it's basically unusable ( ProRes Raw footage ) to color grade in Avid using Baselight. Always crashes on me.
If I only use Avid to color grade it's ok but very limited with what I can do for colorist work. Basically unusable π
im thinking I will sell the Atomos because I don't like the extra steps I have to do transcoding footage. I have to use Assimilate Scratch or Premier Pro for a proper transcode for useable footage from ProRes Raw. Defeating the entire purpose of using 12 bit Raw footage for best quality streamlined workflow. Such a bummer.........And waste of thousands of dollars
Thank you for the Video though! It is nice to have help and different thoughts on problem solving but unfortunately there is no straightforward direct workflow for color grading using Avid and Baselight together without Crashes or problems.
Thousands of dollars wasted........π₯²π₯²π₯²
This then and; a completely different speech, from Colorista I can tell you that I would never use Avid to make a color grading! Avid is by far the fastest and most complete system for editing! To be so efficient it is based on media management in a different way from the others nle! Honestly I can also mount with the linked files in ProRes Raw by setting the yellow-green sequence and possibly the timeline in 1080 and / or c4k displayed in proxy! Once the editing is done, the export in AAF is a matter of seconds, after which I can do the color in Assimilate Scratch! My system is usually Davinci Resolve, but I'm getting used to Scratch which gives phenomenal results! The alternative remains otherwise transcoding, if you have space and time to avid export the uncompressed 32 bit floating point, or alternatively you can convert to 12 bit prores 4444! For me the best workflow is to edit in avid and color in scratch avenod the flexibility of iso kelvin and tint pre debayer
Furthermore, a software that completely manages the color is certainly much more efficient than a plugin
which delegates file and data management to the host system
Very true, I just love the Baselight tools but seems I need to revert back to Davinci Resolve or Assimilate Scratch then unless I plan on spending 60k for a Full Baselight system π π In my dreams, lol!!
well, I guess I will reinstall Davinci and try out the new features. Hahahaha! I will miss my Baselight for Avid though. The Texture Blend function is simply amazing for so many colorist techniques. I will miss that so much.
