    Bulk Edit Mark Out

    Hi,

I am trying to generate lower thirds for all graduating students for a virtual conferring. There will be about 2000 graduates over about 160 courses.

I am at the stage where I can generate all the lower thirds in photoshop, import them into MC and drag them onto the timeline. However, I want to dissolve rather than cut between the cards.  I know I can hightlight the cards and double-click on a saved transition, but I need to set a Mark Out point for all the clips. However, Bulk Edit will not let me change the Mark Out point.

Is there a quick way to do this for all of the clips?

    Thanks,

    Cian.

See if the inspector will work for this purpose...

Add - nevermind - I just gave it a try and can't get it to work (I must be missing a step - I could swear that the inspector tool would allow for setting mark in/out across multiple clips).

Yes I was under the impression the inspector tool would do it.

    Hi Pat,

It was actually JC's idea and I was hoping that it would work. I just gave it a try and perhaps I'm just doing something wrong - have you tried it?

    Re: Bulk Edit Mark Out

Unless there are already marks on the clips, the "Marks" option does not appear in the inspector. When I set the marks on one clip and then select multiple clips, it says "Multiple Values" but this cannot be changed.

    Re: Bulk Edit Mark Out

It works for me in 2020.10 with theese steps:

    1: Select all the clips
2: Switch to Script View and press T on the keyboard to mark clips (mark in + mark out)
    3: Open Inspector
4: Click the Mark Out field - it might say Multiple Values - and enter a timecode (200 for 2 seconds)

It seems that the clips must have both a Mark In and Mark Out set before they can be edited from the inspector tool.

    Re: Bulk Edit Mark Out

Thanks so much - that is working perfectly Smile

Now I just have to find out how to mass add Dissolves! (Although to be fiar, it is musch easier to add the dissolves with a few rapisly repeated keystrokes).

    Thanks Again,

    Cian.

EDIT: Didn't realise my system specs were so out of date: Windows 10 and MC 2020.10. Working from home means that PC specs are also inacurate. Home Build with AMD Ryzen 5 3600, 16G (soon to be 32G), NVidia GForce GTX 1660

    Re: Bulk Edit Mark Out

Adding dissolves to a bunch of clips can be done in several ways.

One way is to select the track and set marks. Then open Quick Transitions (in not mapped to a button open Tools -> Command Palette -> FX tab). Choose dissolve settings and check "Apply To All Transitions IN->OUT".
