the sooner - the better
The reviews on Amazon are pretty harsh for this product. People saying the board is easily warped, the buttons don't have any positive click when pressed, the knobs and wheels are loose and wobble. Do you have a different experience with it? I'm really curious about this and would like to hear from an editor's opinion.
I'd rather see support for the BlackMagic Resolve Mini Panel. Not that cheap but a really nice bit of kit.

And its USB so it would avoid that awful EUcon....

The new Loupedeck CT is better than the Loupedeck + that you are referring to - very solid construction, all metal body, etc, works pretty well - I have been able to replace my Contour Pro shuttle with it for Premiere and all Adobe software, and yeah, it would be great if it also worked on AVID. At first I was dubious about it, and yeah, you DO need to read to manual to unlock all the functionality, but once up and running, it has definitely been a boon over my shuttle - for one thing, I was always forgetting what I had assigned the various keys on the Contour Shuttle Pro to, and had to write up a cheat sheet - no need on the Loupedeck CT - the ldc keys tell you what is there or what you configured it to, and if you remain unsure, just hold the key down for 2 secs and a pop up will tell you all you need to know. The other plus over the older Loupedeck is how compact it is - no nearly keyboard sized surface taking up your desk - it neatly fits into the space vacted by the shuttle pro, plus a bit of space you may have laid aside for a calculator (ups - my age is showing). So, small, robust, more or less wqorks out fo the box, onfigurable and generally okay. Downside over the Contour Shuttle? The Contour Shuttle you can programme it anyway you like - new software that is not yet in the Contour API? No worries, you can simply write a new device. Not so for the Loupedeck, - Loupedeck and the NLE have to work together to make a new API, but once that is doen, it is infinitely configurable within that API.
The impression is as if the original Loupedeck mated with the now sadly deceased Optimus Maximus lcd keyboard - you have tons of buttons that change what they are according to the application and page of the application, a fairly good shuttle and whatnot as well. It should be in the AVID arsenal (although I would hesitate with the o9lder Loupedeck devices, which are far less transparent in use).
The trouble with having an open mind, of course, is that people will insist on coming along and trying to put things in it.
- you are right....
SO AVID - WHY ARE YOU WAITING ????????
Any update on this? I was thinking of buying.
Hi!
If you are on Mac - try installing free CommandPost software. It works as a bridge between Loupedeck (any of them) and Avid (as well as any other app). Works seamlessly, just need some patience to define all the keys you need. Myself, I have programmed basic editing functions to be the same for Final Cut and Media Composer - now quite happy and no need to wait while Avid and Loupedeck agree to befriend.
All the best
Someone has created a custom profile.

As a hardware company Im surprised avid didn't come out with their own.
As per my knowledge they did. I may be wrong but the cheapest option available is about $1500, not to mention monumnetal consoles with 5-digit pricetags.

+1
I saw the demo video of this mini edit controller, and was completely blown away. It's seems just like the old linear edit controllers from Panasonic and Sony I have been using some ages ago.
Why hasn’t Avid come up with such a device? I own an Avid’s Artist | Transport and it is a complete disaster qua accuracy.
Come on Avid get back on the tracks again and show how it is done to others, instead of them showing you.
In the last months, Loupdeck has mad an APi available to all users to write/adapt any NLE to their needs within the device. While no AVID API exists last I looked (a while back) , writing one is the work of very little time, all of it intuitive and failry easy. I expanded my Premiere Pro and BM apis massively, almost completely reaaranged and rewrot my Lightroom APIs and did a basic AVID version as well to handle an edit I did on AMC, but since most of my clients rght now want either Premier Pro delivery or BM delivery, I have concentrated on that. AMC's lack of play nice with any format makes for a lot of problems, whereas you can take almost any format into Premier Pro and BM Davincie Resolve without need for conversion first.
Anway, you can work Loupdeck in AMC, you jsut have to write it yoruself. Check Loupdeck's website for the appropirate instructions and APIs. It jut akes a bit fo doing, but it certainly beats Shuttle for most things (not all, thoguh - the Shuttles shuttle wheel is better and less touchy than Loupdeck's is).

I believe Dennis Mahoney in our developer team is now in contact with Loupdeck... :)
