Avid is pleased to announce the latest release of Media Composer v2019.6 on June 20th, 2019. The software is available through My Avid, Avid Link, or the Download Center (login and password required). You must have a current Support & Upgrade plan to run the latest software. + OS SUPPORT: This release is supported on macOS 10.14.5 (Mojave), 10.13.6 (High Sierra), and 10.12.6 (Sierra).
+ NEW FEATURES: - Redesigned User Interface (UI) and User Experience (UX)
- Media Composer | Distributed Processing
- Media Composer | Enterprise
- Workspace Toolbar
- MXF OP1a Media Creation
- OpenEXR support
- IMF Support
- 32-bit Floating Point Quality
- Support for ACES Workflows
…and others.
+ 3RD PARTY STORAGE CUSTOMERS: An issue has been identified when creating new projects in a 3rd party shared storage environment. Despite the dialog box to emulate a NEXIS system, the correct setting is not automatically changed. After the project is open, go to Settings > Project > General and check “Enable Bin Sharing on 3rd Party Storage Emulating NEXIS/ISIS.” You can then proceed as normal and this setting will stick for the project.
+ CREATE A NEW USER SETTING:
With all of the changes to the UI, users MUST create a new user setting for this software version.
+ FOR MORE INFORMATION: See the ReadMe or What's New documents published on the [link=http://http://avid.force.com/pkb/articles/en_US/user_guide/Media-Composer-2019-Documentation[/link] prior to upgrading if you have any questions. If you have general issues with installing or running the release, post them here. If you think you have found additional bugs, please start a new thread.

As I have afraid of, the new Avid does not support 2 monitors workflow when monitors have different resolution. Of course, I can't expand workspace toolbar to second monitor but I can use floatong windows on that monitor.
But Avid can't remember their position. Every time I close and open Avid all floating windows jumps to first monitor in random position.
That's bad. Please mark it as a bug!

A lot of folks are using it and it works and even remebers ... did you create a new user profile.....
Can you rearrange the 2 displays in the Mac System Preferences, so that the 2nd screen doesn't become the #1 display as Avid sees it. So just place off of the bottom right corner of your center display. This way Avid sees it as #2 in the available displays. Then it automatically placed the "host" panel into the left UI screen.

so can you not tab and dock windows on the second monitor if its different resolution? This makes alot of trouble for users with 27inch 5k imacs and a secondary screen if so.
I like to have my source / record windows, bins and audio mixer on one screen and my timeline, effect pallete and audio tool open on the other screen. Is this still possible and can I take advantage of the tabbing still?
Thank you, Marianna.
After first barrier digging deeper...
In some windows, for example Expert Render InOut - some text does not fit in small window.
Hey Marianna,
Should we expect updates to compatibilty documents for media composer 2019.x with nexis/interplay/mediacentral compatibility to drop soon?

Let me check NYnutz.
NYnutz...
I have been told they are working on them and should have something to post next week.
I would subscribe to the KB articles you expect to get updated so the min they do, you are notified.
Thanks Marianna!
You definitely can tab and dock windows on a second monitor of different resolution - I have been doing so on my system without difficulty
So on Mojave 10.14.4 Upon launch we get the "application is not optimized" for mac message. Brand new computers so no OS downgrade options. Now leary of updating to 10.14.5.......
Since going to 2019.6 and testing, I get a watermark on my NewBlue titles. I'm logged in correctly in the NewBlue App Man but I get an error:

You don't only need new user settings but also trash your Site Setting file before installing and launching. If not, the UI will be missing some elements.
The edit and small tool palette buttons have been removed from the centre of the Composer window. That's OK but the small tool palette icon should be in the Timeline toolbar by default, as should the Render button (also missing). Yes - I have made new settings!
