That's what I did wrong.  I had saved it to a "Downloads" folder on my desktop.   When I extracted directly to the "C" drive I did not get the error and I have all 18,051 files.

Doubtful.  More likely to allow simplification or unified install instructions.

UPDATE: I installed the latest version of MC without first uninstalling the old version and everything went okay.

Does that mean a user can longer sign out of thier system at work and sign in on their system at home? IOW, the soiftware is only being used on one system at a time.

Question about a smooth transition if I choose to abandon my current $50/mo subscription (annual is up in December).  Since I'm an independent as a hobby and do not collaborate, the $20/plan suits my needs.  If I let this expire without renewal, will I have a difficult process immediately buying the annual $20/mo subscription?  Or will the new subscription be seamless under my current Avid membership?

No. Nothing changes. You can only activate the subscription on one system at any time.

Tried the new Alpha RLE Compression feature on 2018.4 which worked well and created sequence and exported.

then I closed Avid and opened again and now I get an error message ALPHA RLE COMPRESSION NOT RECOGNIZED which causes media composer to hang and crash.

Any suggestions as to how to get back in without going and finding the media and deleting it please ?

It always says its not a recognized compression when going back in to projects. ?

No you can still activate and deactivate and move it around - that means that you cant install and activate on more than one at a time!

Marianna: I installed 2018.4 (and AppMan 2018.4.3) - on launch it says "released past your contract exp date..." (which is 12/2/2018). Do I need a versioner for my dongle? If so, where do I get it? Do not see any reference to it. NOTE: Perpetual license on PC.

Never Mind.:) I found it - not the most intuitive process.

My apologies for missing this one....   Subscriotions and perpetuals can be used on more than one computer as long as they are ONLY activated on one at a time.

Each year you have to "phone home" so to speak and let the server, MY Avid and dongle or sw licening server KNOW you updated.  If yo have a dongle, then you need to blast it.  SW licensing - deactivate then reactivate.

Hi, I'm using MC 2018.4 and all was well until this morning, when, suddenly MC refused to play anything but the stereo track on my timeline.  We're finishing up a film with multiple audio tracks that were all playing fine on Friday. Tried another simpler project with a single auido track. Won't play. The Mixer shows there is audio on the track/s in both cases.  Any idea what is going on here?
