    Multicam Workflow question

    Hi everyone,

for a short docu about a band I've reiceived 5 streams of PTZ cams from a concert hall, all of them 1h and 20m in length. They are mp4 files, 1080 p50. The rest of the material is shot in 1080 p25 from a Canon XF 105, (mxf). My project is set to 1080 p25 and I work on MC 8.4.

I would like to transcode the PTZ cam material to offline resolution, (proxy), because they allready don't play back nicely, (AVC and 50p), and second because I want to do a multicam edit with it, including our own 3 cams. So 8 cams in total.

What would be the rigt workflow?  I would like to compress the PTZ cam files to DNxHD 36 to edit easy on my system, but the lowest I can get in the transcode settings is DNxHR LB MXF, which takes up a lot of space, approx 47GB for 1h and 20m, wich is someting like 78 Mb/s, a lot more than DNxHD 36.

I saw that the DNxHD 36 codec still exists but only in video mixdown.

Are there any tricks to transcod the 1080 p50 AVC material into DNxHD 36 and keep the relink option to the original material?

    Thx ahead!

Are you able to swap your FORMAT tab and then allow Transcoding to DNX36?

Format tab makes no difference. I can only chose beteween 1080p25 or 1080i50

    You are doing something wrong.

But for the time being just switch the transcode settings to:

    Convert to project frame rate.

I’m not familiar with v8.4, or 25p but on my Nitris DX v8.8.4 system, I only see those resolutions you describe when I flip my

59.94 project to 4K. So I have to ask: are you sure your project is HD and not something higher?
