Hi there,
I have been editing now for over a year, trying to get used to Avid MC. In the beginning I had the same proble. I open up Avid MC, and out comes a message:
"Exception: A serious error has occurred! It is recommended that you immediately save your work and restart the system."
I have dfome this a dozen of times, message keeps coming up . Also I cannot play the film on the time line. Everytime I comse this Exception window, and try to play back the sequence, the window opens up again. I am on MC 8.4.4. I used to be on a newer version and had the same problem until somebody here recommended to change to an older version like 8.4.4. and that solbved the problem. Until now.
I have been working on the same project now for a ye3ar and don't want to upgrade yet as I am afraid that it could play hazard with my film and that could thhrough me back weeks having to edit again every thing.
Editing on a Mac Mini, using 10.9.5
Yosemite and 8.5. together was causing the prtoblem a year ago, hence I am now on 10.9.5 and MC 8.4.4.
Thanks in advance,
Anita

Thanks Marianna, for responding so fast.
Am in Europe, hence the late reply.
My specs:
Processor 2,3 GHz Intel Core i7
Memory 16 GB 1600 MHz DDR3
Graphics Intel HD Graphics 4000 1024 MB
Software OS X 10.9.5 (13F1507)
I have toe project on a Seagate HD 4TB
God, I have many other programmes, can't list them here. Every programme that is installed in a MAC anyway, and Final Cut Pro which I am not using anymore, Plural Eyes, Celtx Script, Compressor, Skype. Not using any of them really, only doing my project on Avid at the moment.
Main issue is that it has been working fine until yesterday. And I haven"t lately added or removed anything.
The only thing I did is to create a new project on a different drive in order to finish some job. But the driver is disconnected and I am back to the old project and now always this window comes up every time I want to play back my film.
I was not aware, that I double posted this. I thought it hasn't gone through the first time.
Thanks, Anita
Please, can anybody help? Still struggling with this. Can't believe that I'm the first to experience that. Thanks.
