I have two machines - both using the MX02, so I think that this device may be relevant. Whenever I close the application it hangs and has to be shut down by clicking a button. This never used to happen until, I think, some release of version 7. Is there any way to make the application exit cleanly?
Hey Dave
What happens if you remove the MX02 from the chain and then launch and try to exit without it attached?
Is there a specific task being handled at the time of exit or is this a manual quit of the applciation ( done by you?) ?

I am using the matrox mini and I have a similar problem. When I close media composer it hangs and I get a message that media composer has stopped working - I then click the close ICON and it closes. In my case it is the matrox - I removed it from the chain and the issue went away. It began to happen with 8.2 - I can still use and work with it - the hangin does not cause any problems. Matrox had not updated their drivers along with new media compser updates so that could be the problem.
The issue is with the Matrox drivers for the Matrox MXO2 mini. That device is EOL and there will be no more drivers developed for it. I have the same issue on my system, and have to manually close MC after windows tells me to.

Thank you al for your comments: I guess I'll have to live with it!
I too have the same issue on our systems with MX02, it crashes the avid exit until you force quit.
This in itself isnt a massive issue, only annoying, however what has also been affected is audio punch in via the MXO2, the result being digital dropouts on recorded audio which is not good.
Again I assume its the lack of updated driver support for this product which is now forcing us to have to but new I/O solutions.
I throwed away MXO2 Mini. Its oudated and not even Matrox supports it anymore.
This is the problem.

Same issue here, and I've been looking to replace my MXO2 Mini for quite some time.
Can anyone recommend an affordable HD monitoring replacement for it? What's everyone using instead?
I like its ability to capture and output HDMI/component/S-Video in a pinch but that's not crucial. I suppose a move up to 4k monitoring would be a smart move too, but I'd be open to any suggestions.
I have been looking at several options recently. AJA - is one option - they are reliable and seem to have good support. I have also looked at black magic options and they have several - from very simple monitoring to much more advanced - in certain areas they cost less. I have called both AJA and BM to test their support and talked with them and they both were solid. Try it for yourself. Still I have not made a decision. Go to BH's site and look at all the AJA/BM options. Still doing research - From all the editors I spoke to they all prefer AJA - however BM is coming up
I have been looking at the decklink capture and playback 4K card - seems like it will do almost everything I need
Blackmagic has some cheap alternatives for 4K. Have not good experience with the company but maybe those cards are a lot better (driver side) from the past.
Dumped my MX02 as well, considering the BM Intensity Pro 4k, as a monitoring device, since I do not need all of the I/O goodies of the Matrox anymore.

For the price I'm going to give the BM Intensity Pro 4k a shot. Most complaints about it seem to be from early adopters in 2015/2016 so we'll see how it goes. Thanks for the input everyone!
It is a good price and that was one of my options as well - please let us know how it is working and what driver you have installed
thank you
I have run the intensity Pro 4K for 3 years now without issues. I put another one in a new build a few weeks back. Still running BMD driver version 10.4.3 (more for Pro Tools than MC)
I hope to get time to test the new BMD driver 10.9.3 on the new Windows 10 machine this weekend.
Thank you - for me the only drawback is that is does not have any SDI - guess I could get an adpater
