Hi. I edit a sequence with a lot of AMA linked mp3
When I play the sequence audio has clicking, gaps and others audio failures. Importing the same audo files works properly.
Why I´ve this problem? It´s a bug?
How I fix it?
I trying to import the mp3 and relink the sequence to them but does not work.
Thanks a lot and sorry for my poor english.
Not a bug. MP3's are highly compressd, and typically 44.1kHz. Video work needs the audio to be 48kHz...so Importing converts the files to that format. AMA linking audio is never adviced...always import.
I can understand it in realtime play of a AMA sequence but i can not undeestand after consolidating the AMA audio. This is a bug clearly.
If you CONSOLIDATE, you are merely moving, not converting. So the audio is still MP3 and still 44.1 or whatever. If you TRANSCODE or IMPORT, then you convert it to a format that Avid works with. Not a bug...you just have to do things properly.
CONSOLIDATING or TRASCODING i have the same bug. Audio have gaps and clicks.
If I import it I have no fails.
In the times of extracting the tracks of a standard audio CD (44.1Khz) i have never an error loke this if I had checked "Convert Sample Rate when playing" in the Audio Project Settings
Thanks for your answers!
5 years ago I asked this question on the forum. Since I didn't get a satisfactory answer, I turned to Avid support, who basically told me that linking via AMA was not recommended. From that time until today I have worked with imported mp3s.
Until the arrival of Catalina (64bits).
After this post:
https://community.avid.com/forums/p/205757/921647.aspx#921647
It became clear to me that the mp3s could not be linked (I hope this functionality will be restored soon) so I had to link and consolidate them.
And that's why I find myself back on this post, referencing a bug from 5 years ago that remains unfixed.
Linked mp3s still have noise issues once consolidated/transcoded.
