Old Russian scriptsync files opened in MC 8.8 with wrong encoding. Can't read text any more.
The same with new imported scripts.
And can't see any option of text encoding change.
I am working on Mac.

This is the same problem as the apostrophes issue here: http://community.avid.com/forums/t/180167.aspx. You should be able to use iconv to convert to UTF-8. I believe for you the command will be:
$ iconv -f MACCYRILLIC -t UTF-8 old-file.txt > new-file.txt
If the character set isn't MACCYRILLIC then you'll have to figure out which set you are using.
If you used MS Word to create the scripts, you could also re-export them using Unicode as the export character set.
Hope this helps.

But I want use older projects. I don't want to reimport all old scripts.
For new scripts I use another way. After importing script with wrong symbols, I activate new edit mode and simply cmd+a, cmd+c in script opened with TextEdit and cmd+a, cmd+v in scriptsync window in Avid and text appears without bugs.
There is a case opened in support (03150188) for character set issues on the Mac. In the meantime, work-arounds like converting the old scripts, or updating them as you're doing with the copy/paste are at least options.

Hi Dave,
Probably a silly question, what does the language pack do? I saw in My Avid that there is a Avid language pack install for both SS and PF.
Thanks,
RalphC
I'm not entirely sure, but the language pack is pretty small. I suspect it contains just the phoneme information for the languages. Otherwise, he wouldn't see the character set correctly when he does the cut and paste. Unless of course it's something completely different.
