Can anybody tell me why when having purchased the perpetual licence i will still need to have intenet access?

 I thought that only applies to the annual subscription. I had troubles with my editing computer getting on the internet, and it could have gone past 1 month already where I hadn't been online and today I could not open Avid MC and work on my film. Luckily internet works again, but I'm scared now. Having previously moved from FCP to Avid now, I am a bit irritated that after paying 1299 USD I will end up having issues when my internet is not working on this computer. Why is that? Is this the normal procedure? There is no expiry date on this licence, the only thing I cannot do after the expiry of the first year is to do any upgrades. But it's bonkers, if I have to access internet once a month in order to keep a perpetual non-expiring expensive software running. Except this I don't need the internet on this computer here.

Can you give any details about which OS? Which version of MC? Which version of Avid Application Manager? When your support plan expired? 
FWIW I have a MC 5.5 (the last version that supported its particular Avid hardware) on a Mac here that has not on a support plan or connected to internet for 2 years or more that still runs without issues.

  I checked your master account you have two MC registered. Maybe you accidentally open the one that expired Dec 2016?

1. Time Period: Dec 22, 2016 - to - Dec 21, 2017

2. Time Period: Dec 25, 2015 - to - Dec 24, 2016

Yes. Ralph, many thanks. In the meantime I got hold of my AVID dealer, who talked me through it. I thought, I had made all the right registration steps when I purchased the perpetual licence, but obviously not. Wonder, how I still could register the annual licence, when it had alrerady expiried.

Register or renew the subscription? You can still run Media Composer 8.7 even the license expired, it's best if you renew the subscription right away.
