What version of CentOS are you running? What version of ISIS are you running?

If you're running ISIS 4.7.5 or later - and you should be - I suggest using the NEXIS 7.1 client that's available on the Avid download center.

CentOS 6.5 is supported. The client currently isn't supported on CentOS 6.7 and 7.

Ensure that CentOS has a Computer Name.

The client itself is under Applications > System Tools.

Re: installtion and configuration of ISIS client manager in Linux cent os.

All the ISIS 4.7 docs are here. As root install the .bin file using the terminal; for example:

    sudo /home/user/Desktop/AvidNEXISClient_el6.x86_64_7.1.0_125.bin

Again, I suggest installing the NEXIS client as there are known issues in the ISIS Linux Client.

The same client is used for a VM.

    Hello BobRusso,

I have downloaded the AvidNEXISClient_el6.x86_64_7.1.0_125.bin.zip and this client this client i can now install on the Linux Client.

is there any special depandanicies which needs to be installed on the cent os, becasue according to cent os docuemnt, we can just run the bin file.

and do we need to put the installer into some specific direcotry or i can just exract anywhere instead of User home directory.

    thanks

Re: installtion and configuration of ISIS client manager in Linux cent os.

We technically only support Red Hat 6.5 but have never heard of any issues installing the client on CentOS.

The details on how to install the Linux Client are on page 10 of the Client Guide. I'm unaware of any dependencies that are required to install a .bin file - what I detailed is how I install the client.

The instructions in the client guide are different.

Add the IP address of the System Director to the Remote Hosts in the client. The VM must have a host name.

Is there a NIC selected in the client manager? Is this the correct network to reach the System Director? Can you reach the management console with a browser?

Re: installtion and configuration of ISIS client manager in Linux cent os.

Hey , yes i can reach the web interface from the browsser. but it is still not showing up in the Nexis Client.

but still the Server connection doesnt show up.

to be clear the Network adapter is configured to the Nexis Client to use within the Client manager. but this Network adapter is in the diffrent Vlan and i have configured the routing between the system director and linix client .

should i try to provide the new network adapter to the Linux client and put this vlan in the same vlan as System director.

    Please advice. thanks

Every computer, including the VM, must have a host name/computer name. If you look in the management console under devices and/or connection status you will likely see a computer without a name or random characters.
