I have contacted both Avid Support and HP Support. Both indicate that simultaneous installation of the Avid HBA PCIe card is NOT possible, because both cards require installation into PCIe Slot #5.
The Avid documentation seems to contradict this, but the installation of the Artist DNxIO HBA card has a serial number that requires installation in Slot #5.
Is there a BiOS setting or some workaround to allow me to simultaneously install these cards and attach an external Thunderbolt-2 hard disk? Avid does not recommend using a Thunderbolt Daisy-Chain because this would slow the connection to the Artist DNxIO box.
I have three workstations with this configuration - and do not wish to return all three Thunderbolt-2 cards to HP.
Someone has to be editing on Media Composer with this type of configuration.

There is no problem with Avid DNxIO HBA in slot 1 or slot 6. The older Nitris DX and Mojo DX have problems when HBA is installed in PCIe gen 3 slots so they can only be installed in slot 5 (PCIe gen 2 slot). HP thunderbolt 2 card can only be installed in slot 5 so that is the conflict.
