    HP Z440 vs Z840?

    Obviously bigger and more expensive is better. But we need to buy a few machines so costs will mount up. What is people's experiences of the Z440s for general offline editing at DNX36 or XDcam 50mb?

    i've said it before.

     

    8 cores are plenty for plain vanilla editing. 4k ain't a thing.

    take what you saved and invest in disk.

     

    80% sure we'll see new socket 2011-4  machines by june.

    also gpu die shrink from 28 to 14nm is imminent. double performance per watt.
