Christsake Avid, 8.5 is absolutely terrible, do you guys even test this before making it public?Running about 4/5 crashes a day. Same problem as the guy above. Looks like the problem has to do with the com.digidesign.AMPIPluginDSM plugin. Keep getting EXC_BAD_ACCESS crashes.
Keeps happening the same way. Just having a sequence in source monitor, set in, set out, V to insert select and BAM, Crashes. Every single time it's just crashing doing this simple process. working with DnxHD36 and AJA IO XT box.
Got a bunch of these today again:

@erwin: that may be true, but here's the thing:
Erwin:OS Version: Mac OS X 10.11.4 (15E65)
This is unsupported. If there's anyway to roll back to 10.11.3, that would help your case.
Also, can you trim back the crash log? Just need everything up to:
Thanks!

Thanks for your reply Isaquit0, I've trimmed back the crash log.
Unfortunately this iMac system is brand new, so I don't have any backups I could use to roll back.Any idea when 10.11.4 will be supported?

Folks
for those using a approved combo I have created a case, attached all the crash logs and engineering is looking at it.
Case # 02926959
Thanks Kevin Klimek for getting this over to Keith..... helps as it is happening in 8.5.1 as well as beta.

Mine is crashing all the time, after every step. I have Yosemite, 8.5.1, Macmini with 16GB and Graphics 4000. I can barely manage to save every step until t crashes again. Happened to me with 8.4. as well.
Apparently Avid 8.5. is now also working on El Capitan, I don't dare upgrading yet.
Is there any solution???
I would be glad if it was only crashing 4 times a day, I can only say. What can I do to solve that problem? Can anyone from AVID help with that?
Thanks, Anita

Don't upgrade to El Capitan.
If you're at 10.10.5, downgrade to 8.4.4:

Still crashing? Post your crash log:

Thank you very much. Actually, I realised that I am on 10.9.5. That's Mavericks. Shall I stay on that?
I have been told that it works better with Avid, even better that Yosemite. I will now defo downgrade to 8.4.4 and see how it works.
Many thanks,
Anita

Try that for now. That said:
anita96:I will now defo downgrade to 8.4.4 and see how it works.
If your goal is:
1. Max stability in the newest version of MC - 8.3.1
2. Stability in an even newer version of MC - 8.4.4 (Note: this was a huge bugfix, and might be as stable as 8.3.1, but I can't say. I have 8.4.4 on two machines here, just haven't spent enough time with it personally to pronounce it "stable".)
3. Max stability in older version - 7.0.6
If you find you need to upgrade to Yosemite:
1. MC 8.3.1 + OS X 10.10.2
2. MC 8.4.4 + OS X 10.10.5
Thanks, I will keep this in mind. wIll stay with Mavericks as much long as I can now. i spent many hours editing yesterday with not a single crash. So, I think it has worked! mAny many thanks,
Hey Anita,
That's awesome!
So what version of Media Composer did you go with?
8.4.4. as you suggested. And it works. At least there are no crashes.
Many thanks, Anita
