Question is in the title I guess!
I have a Mac Pro 5,1 (yosemite, 64gb) with an Atto raid and Nvidia Titan X GPU and can grade up to 6K red files in resolve (that surprised me!).
Could the DNXIO work this machine in a 4x PCI-e slot at 4K? Anyone doing this?
Thanks
Bump
I know that a PCI card was offered but I cant say it works.
Yeah it works
Is it worth it?
Any graphics acceleration with this kind of box or is it just a fancy I/O box?
IO boxes don't offer any acceleration of the editing process. They can aid in capturing DNxHD...there's built in hardware for that. But nothing in it to make editing any faster, or rendering. It's a way to get video into, and out of, Avid.
I wonder whether we can expect better reliabilty from the Avid branded box compared to the Blackmagic one? Do they use the same driver does anyone know? So far I have not been impressed by BM cards within MC - even though they seem ok for other apps and Pro Tools
I have the Blackmagic one, the Ultrastudio Extreme 4K. Same driver for that and the DNxIO.
I too haven't been impressed with BMD products on Avid in the past...sync issues and slow response times. But this new box and driver seem to be pretty steady...as steady as my AJA IOXT at least.
