Avid UX Source Timecode in Sequence

    Hi,

A client wants to transcribe their rushes via the UX. Since it appears you can't load all the clips into the source monitor I decided to create a sequence in the Avid per card. But the biggest flaw is that when viewing the sequence in the UX is that you can't set the timecode in the source monitor to source timecode. The only option is 'Master, Remain and Absolute'. This renders the sequence useless as you really need to be able to view source timecode, seems like a pretty basic feature to be missing.

If you place a timecode generator on it for 'source timecode' of course you need to render it which would take too long.

Am I missing something here? Viewing source timecode on a sequence checked into the UX...

Re: Avid UX Source Timecode in Sequence

We also have the same problem: Our authors and customers used to review their footage using sequences with burnt in source timecode. Now after installing a Media Central Server we wanted to skip exporting long Quick Time Files so the authors can review their material on UX.

But without having the source timecode it doens't make any sense for us. Is this very simple feature already implemented in one of the newer versions 2.3 or 2.4? Unfortunately I dind't find anything about it in the documentations. And if not - will it be implemented in one of the following versions?

We are currently using 2.4.1 and this feature is still missing - like you said it's a very simple feature that would save us in post a lot of time from exporting long sequences for proxies and the like.

Anyone from Avid care to chip in and tell us when this feature will be added, got clients in again screaming for this feature.

Did some investigation: we have this story on the backlog. We are not authorised to publish a release date unless the feature is done.

    Please review this design:

    How to demo
    • Load a sequence
    • Go to the Media Pane
    • Click on the timecode window dropdown
    • Select "Clip"
      • Expected: timecode window displays the clip timecode
        • If there is a gap in the sequence (an area which has no video) then display -:::-
    • Load a clip
      • Expected: "Clip" is selected and behaves the same as "Master" so that the user does not get -:::- and has to switch back again

(Avid-internal reference so that I can track this easier: OS-3327)

This feature is in development and should be available with an upcoming release.
I can not give you are release version now as the feature has to go through quality assurance first.
