Greetings,I recently upgraded to Avid MC 8.4.1 (full system below) and when trying to capture HDV tape footage via firewire(Sony HDR-HC9), the capture tool's video tab grey's out upon opening. I see it lit up for a couple of frames, then it grey's out. Audio is lit but when I hit record I get this no input error:
Exception: ADM_DIO_ERROR_OCCURRED; DIOerr:No input signal present.
Thanking you in advance. -gv

Did you select the correct capture codec , should be 1080 mxf or something similar , check the scrolldown
Tomas
Where do I find this? My format is correct. My codecs are up to date but I don't know where to look for the correct capture codec.
Media creation - capture tab - setting HDV 1080i mxf
Make sure it´s the same settings inside the capture window
If you have any external I / O devices connected they might need to be toggled off before doing this using the toggle on / off button just to the right of the bg queue spinning wheel.
Yes, that's been correct. Toggled through that. Changed it. Quit App. Restarted, re-input correct format in Media Creation. Still no Video. How can I go back to MC 8 before this .4.1 version?

Interestingly I see the exact same thing , just to uninstall the 4.1 patch if installed that upon 8,4.
If not, an uninstall of 8,41 followed by an install of 8,4 is what needs to be done, will continue some digging here as I also have a lot of HDV tapes
Ok, made some diggings and it was a user error at my place , seems like I´ve used the deck to playing out DV tapes last time I used it, switching to HDV ( auto will not work ) and all works well here.
Maybe you could check the settings in the cam .
Thanks, Tomas. My deck settings are correct. I did have it in Auto but changed that to no avail.
Still unable to capture. :(
Going back to MC 8.4 seems to resolve the issue. I'm not sure why 8.4.1 introduced the inability to capture, but for now it is fixed. I will be most hesitant to upgrade going forward. :/
I should give HDV import a try with 8.4.1. Last time HDV capture was broken so was HDV import.

As I couldn´t repro it here with correct deck settings I would begin with testing as a new user however , old user profiles can do strange things.
Just did a fast import of some HDV (m2t) files with MC 8.4.1 - no problem at all.
With my Windows 7 system and Media Composer 8.4.1, I made a test with HDV 720P50 with my tapedeck JVC BR-HD50 connected via firewire.
I cannot capture at all, as the system does not allow the correct video format setting in "Media Creation". It only shows two alternatives: "AVC-Intra 100 MXF", and "J2K 720p 50 MXF".
In the capture window I can only select IEEE1394 as audio source, video-source is grayed out. If I select an audio channel, I get an error mesage, that no input signal is received. My deck can be controlled withou problems from the capture window.
I have then unistalled MC patch 8.4.1, so I am back on version 8.4. Same behavior here as well.
My concerns were with the indication of AVC-Intra 100 MXF as one of the two selectable alternatives in Media Creatin settings. I zhought, it could be caused by the installation of Sony XDCAM AMA plugin version 3.4.1. So I uninstalled this plugin, and checked MC again. Still the same problem.
Now, I have initiated the "Repair" option for Media Composer from Windows control panel.
After finshing repair and a reboot, I started Media Composer (8.4). In the "Media Creation" settings, I can now select between three alternatives: "DVCPro HD MXF", "J2K 720p 50 MXF", and "HDV 720P MXF". With the selection of "HDV 720P MXF" I could successfully capture from HDV-tape.
Now I tested on a second system running under Windows 10-64 Professional. Media Composer is in version 8.4.1.
Capturing is not possible, with the same problems as described above. Uninstalling SONY XDCAM AAMA Plugin 3.4.1 and running Media Composer "Repair" from Windows control panel did not solve the problem. I cannot select the correct video format, it is not shown as an option.
However I found another strange behavior. When I open the capture test project, which I have created under the Windows 7 system, I can select the correct video format. I created a new capture test project and here this video format cannot be selected. It is not listed in the options.
Summary: Media Composer 8.4.1 has a bug with capturing HDV tape via firewire connected decks/camcorders.

What are your project settings? (particularly color space)?
BarkinMadd: What are your project settings? (particularly color space)?
I do not now, whether this question is for me. But anyway, in my case the test projects were all set to YCbCr 709.
I have just installed MC Version 8.4.2. The problem still exists. Capture via Firewire is not possible.
