    8.3 upgrade

Hi I have just upgraded from 6.0.5 to 8.3, when I try to activate the software I am told that it has failed due to an incorrect date, any ideas?

What date is being asked for? Date of Purchase for 6.0.5? Date of upgrade?    I believe you can try submitting the form as ofter as you like.  So you can try a variety of dates till one works.

Does your Application manager show as being Versioon 2.2?
    Did you Decctivate before updating?
Under the Licensing Tab in the Application Manager what dates show for the Software Activation Expiry (Assuming this is what shows as I have Dongles here)  And What date shows for Contract expires?

    Re: 8.3 upgrade

I'm having the same issue. Everything has been until the new year; once the renewal was to take effct for 2015, I received teh same error. I've tried to deactivate, insintall and resinstall. Funny thing is, in my Avid account it says my subscription is Active. I wrote to Avid, haven;t heard back. Good thing I don't have any pressing deadlines.

If you open the Application Manager Apps tab what does it show under Avid Media Composer?

If you then switch to the Licensing tab what does it show under Avid Media Composer?

Under "info" do you get something like this

    Product Media Composer
    Model: Media Composer
    Version: 8.0
Maybe a line here (mine has Dongle expires)
Contract Expires: xxxxxxxx  This is the imprtant one
Maybe a line here  (My Dongle has Blasted on:

It is Marianna's weekend the morning would be a kinder time to contact herSmile

    Re: 8.3 upgrade

hahhaha, yea, I know she's taking a breather. I wasn't expecting Marianna to come to my rescue this weekend;)

as for your questions: If you open the Application Manager Apps tab what does it show under Avid Media Composer?

    it shows "renew"

If you then switch to the Licensing tab what does it show under Avid Media Composer?

Under "info" do you get something like this:

Yes, it shows my System ID and Activation ID, but every time I tried to activate, it has an activation error, then it says "temporary license expired."  This just happened a few days ago, and everything was working fine since when I bought it on  Dec. 3 2014.  In my Avid account it shows that my subscription is active, but I cannot use my standard Support contract, wen I call it says that my system ID does not exist.

Almost as if my annual subscription ended on 01/07/2015 since it says it was expecting a future date to exist? I know it will get fixed, but something is definitely  screwy going on.  since my account says my subscription is active, but every where else its not.

    Thnaks for the reply!

    Re: 8.3 upgrade

I would try uninstalling 8.3 and the Application manager. Do a full reboot leaving the computer off and unplugged from the mains for 5 minutes. Then install 8.3 again. It will install a new version copy of the Application Manager.  Good Luck!

FWIW there have been a couple of posts recently about deleting some database(?) from the Application Manager to solve some issues but I can not recall the details or whether it was Mac or PC related

    Re: 8.3 upgrade

Hi, I had the support for a problem with MC8.2:

    1) deactivate MC  (if it is not already).
    2) Then in C: \ ProgramData \ Avid, delete folders "Licenses" and "SWL"
    3) Then you reinstall MC with to right click on the install program and select "run with administrator rights"

    Re: 8.3 upgrade

Thanks for helping. I tried that, and I still ge the same error. Marianna reset it for me, but it's still not working; so I'll just wait until the Avid team finds the solution. At least they gave me another 30 days in trial mode.
