I purchased a subscription for my MC+Symphony (license) and my MC (dongle). The MC+Symphony seems to be okay (it's listed as "active" on the account overview but I haven't yet installed and tested it), but the MC (dongle) is "on hold" with the message "Your subscription is in CS review."
The dongle was successfully updated, the software (v8.3) installed but now when I start MC I'm told "current license has no contract expiration date". I suppose this is because some computer, some person, somewhere hasn't gotten around to validating something.
I really would like to be able to use my software.
When will the "review" be completed and WHY is this review necessary?
Cheers
Rodney

Even if a Dongle was updated for 8.2 it needs to be reupdated with the 8.3 upgrade. (See this doc)
8.3 requires Application Manager 2.2 (installed with 8.3). In the readme there is a paragraph that details what to do If you try and open 8.2 after you have uninstalled the old application manager (2.1)

Yes I mean "support", the thing we have to buy to ensure our media composers don't become zombies. Even if a Dongle was updated for 8.2 it needs to be reupdated with the 8.3 upgrade. I assume that sometime soon, someone/some computer somewhere will decide that my CS review has been completed (but CS is Adobe isn't it?). I'm running 8.3 as a trial until that happens, but all this does reduce any trust I had in this cloud crap. One day the corporations will just take everything away from us...
chances are you bought your license from a reseller. If that's the case then avid needs to verify that you actually own the license that you have tied to your new support/upgrade plan. There is a window of 12-24 hours depending on how busy support is where it will show 'on hold' until they verify. That's doesn't mean you can not expand the line item in your My Account and open your Products and Subscriptions and download the dongle updater or access the activation ID depending on your license type.
Note all: only licenses that were bought on the Avid Store show up in your My Account. Once you buy the support/upgrade plan and validate your system ID that you wish to tie the plan too.. Then that system is now in your My Account.

So, Marianna, I have an educational version of Avid. I checked my account, everything looked right there, updated to Avid Manager 2.2 and updated from there from 8.1 to 8.3. Now I can't run Avid at all.
In looking at my account, everything seems to be in order. But I can' t run the software at all with this hangup.
"Contract license has no contract expiration date". But in my account it shows an expiration date of 8/3/2015. What gives?
Did you deactivate MC before installing and then ractivate after installing 8.3?
Does this from the readme apply to you?
"Application Manager and Media Composer Compatibility
A licensing database is created when you first launch Media Composer or when you first launch
Application Manager. With the release of Application Manager v2.2 and Media Composer v8.3,
the way in which the licensing database is created has changed. Media Composer v8.3 is
compatible with Application Manager v2.2. However, if you update to Application Manager
v2.2 and attempt to launch a version of Media Composer prior to v8.3 and you had deleted the
license database before launching Application Manager v2.2, the editing application will not
launch. If you experience this, you can do one of the following:
• Uninstall Application Manager v2.2. Uninstall and Reinstall the Media Composer version
(prior to v8.3). The earlier version of the editing application will install a compatible
Application Manager.
• Upgrade to Media Composer v8.3."

Hi Marianna,
thanks for the info. I had bought my licence from a reseller, now both licences are now working. v8.3 is absolutely fantastic!
It might save a lot of worry and work if the sentence "Your subscription is in CS review" could be written with as much clarity as your reply here. Something like "Please be patient while we check that you own the licence you're upgrading" would certainly help reduce fears and tears.
Thanks again Marianna and thanks a zillion for all your work for us Avid users!
Hi
Ive also upgraded to ver. 8.3 and my dongle is updated with the correct update , my supportcenter says ok .... earlier was it grey/not active ... but my product is still on hold ?
I cant start MC ?
Current license has no contract expiration date ?
Hi Snedker, I answered your post yesterday but it seems to have gone missing.
Try downloading a new updater.avd file and updating your dongle (don't CONVERT it!!!). That worked for me. Cheers
Hi Rodney
My dongle is updated ... with the updaterfile in my products and subscriptions and i can use Avid MC 7.04 ... and thats an update from my old 6.0.3 !
The best part using 7.04 is that my Boris BCC8avx is useable with that version .... i don´t wanna spend 600$ upgrading BCC now when i´m not sure that i can use BCC9 in next MC upgrade ?
I´m a private user so next logical step could be waiting for a grace period around NAB ? so i´ll end up with MC 9 ? and BCC10 ? and "only" spend the 600 $ at that time.

You should still be able to use BCC8 with MC8, both are 64 Bit.

Yeah, I'm on BCC 8.2 and it works fine with MC 8.3.
