    project sharing solutions

    Hi All,

I've been researching avid project sharing solutions.  How many products are there that can do PROPER project sharing (IE. with bin locks).  I know there's the ISIS and I read that the Facilis Terrablock can do this (??) is that true? are there any other options?

    Cheers

EditShare.  And there are a few people that claim to hack it. I tried one...it was so complex and had VERY little documentation (assumed you were an IT god) that I gave it up.

thanks, I do know about EditShare but I think this doesn't have true project sharing, unlike a unity or isis where you can open the same exact project on two systems and the bins will be individually locked once opened.  But the moment they are closed you can open the same bin on another system and work on it.  I think with Editshare you have to duplicate a sequence and put it into a bin in your user folder..  Please correct me if i'm wrong!

It does true project sharing. I've been at two companies that utilized it and Avid it was exactly like using ISIS

Cheers Shane that's really good to know about editshare.  Regarding the software 'hack' versions, I've been talking to the guy at Indiestor and he's been super helpful so I'm inclined to give this a go actually.  Strictly speaking it isn't true project sharing as it's all user based read/write stuff.  But it's a way to get a working system without additional hardware as you can run it on linux system or Mac with virtual box. if you want to check it out he's got a vid here: http://indiestor.com/

Terrablock has bin locking built in without any additional configuration.
