Hey,
I am currently trying to install MC 7.03 on my new Mac Pro (2014) but getting getting the instalation failed message telling me to contact the manufacturer. Although, all the files are there and installed to my comp (well i guess not all). In addition, the uninstaller doesnt seem to recognize the files so i cant uninstall the software. I can do it manually of course. I have tried uninstalling it manually without any luck.
Does anyone have any advice on this? Its becoming quite a large issue has i have to currently work on a old workstation instead. :(
I will happily send any information anyone might need to help out with this!
Hello there
First 10.9.2 isnt supported yet with 7.0.x. Only 6.5.2.1 as 7.0.3.1 or 7.0.4 ( I am not sure which it will be called) is coming soon. You should check the tech spec's before you forge ahead witht OS upgrades in the future.
Secondly..... There is a caveat with the new Mac's....
External Audio Input device required. The new Apple Mac Pro Workstations do not have an onboard audio input. A “core audio” input device is required for Media Composer to launch. A separate USB or Thunderbolt device with audio input hardware such as an Avid Mbox will be recognized as a “core audio” device by Mac OSX and must be connected. Avid is working to resolve this issue with a software patch which is expected to be released in early Q2 2014.
Finally, if you run into issues, post here but provided your complete spec's.

Thank you for the quick reply! I will definitely be more careful in the future with upgrading OS.
Luckily i have external audio inputs connected so that shouldnt be an issue. Hopefully that new version is coming out soon! :)
Thank you Marianna.
Marianna, i have a problem with this run down. If I update my 2012 iMac at this time, Apple will automatically update the OS to 10.9.2 NOT 10.9.1. Is the upgrade I purchased no longer usable in this case. I bought it just before NAB, bad timing.
OS X 10.9.1 is still available on the Apple downloads site: Download
Eric
Thanks Eric, that possibility slipped my mind. I will download the 10.9.1 OS Upgrade.
Eric, I tied 10.9.1 upgrade bt it wont install without 10.9 and I cant seem to find JUST the download for 10.9. Any advice of where to get OS X 10.9??
Unfortunately, Apple makes this very difficult.
As I've mentioned before, whenever a new OS comes out (like Mavericks) I strongly encourage Avid Mac users to purchase and download it, but not install it until Avid supports it. The ONLY way to get 10.9.0 (unless you can call Avid and get them to sell it to you) is to downloiad it while it's the current version. After that, the App Store will only feature the current shipping version.
However, as long as you have 10.9, you can download any of the point releases so you can install a version blessed by Avid.
Since 10.9 was free, it might be a bit easier getting a hold of a copy.

Kevin, I tried to do that with Mavericks when it first came out but Apple changed their system and it wasn't available as a download AFAIR, only a full install.
WAIT, WAIT. I'm wrong I did download OS 10.9 on a different iMac and do have the dmg. Maybe I can get this to work.
You can download but quit the installer when it launches. That's what we did and now have an "Install OS X Mavericks" application on our CPUs.
See my edit above but yes, I do have the install for mavericks. Thanks Kevin.
OK, I've updated my OS to 10.9.1 yea!
Install but not launched Avid 7.0.3
But I go to the dongle update page and it's asking for a 16 digit Activation I.D.
HOWEVER The activation upgrade card I purchased through a third party vendor has a download code 25 digit/letter code broken into increments of 9-9-7.
How do I update the dongle with this code?? Or is this not the code I use.
EDIT OK, figured it out, found the code in my Avid Account.
EDIT 2: Have MC 7.0.3 installed, dongle updated, MC is working. However upon launch I get a dialogue box telling me to unistall certain AMA files that are not compatible with MC7. How do I install AMA files? Where are they located as I don't see anything in my Avid fies??
EDIT 3: Kevin, I see you're answered the above in an earlier post I found in search. Will follow your instructions there. The good news I did the install but still have some odds and ends to clean up.
LAST EDIT: SUCCESS! Updated.
Glad it's working for you!
