Hello,
I have installed the PDZK-MA2_v2.31_forMac driver for the footage onto my MC 6.5.0 and AMA imported it.
When I load the clip into the source monitor it says: CORE CONSISTENCY CHECK FAILURE
I can't even seem to view the files in sony content browser but I'm not sure if that's beause of the folder structure. The cameraman who sent me the test files only sent me the files in the XDROOT folder. To fix thid I tried to simply re-create the XDROOT folder and then navigate to the clips again in Content Browser but still nothing shows up and it just sees the XDROOT folder the same any any other folder...
Could anybody help me to solve either of these problems?
Thanks for any help on this.
Spencer
Spencer:
From the PDZ reference, I'm going to assume Sony XDCAM or XDCAM EX is your camera format. In any case, whatever the format is, you should go here to download the appropriate AMA Plugins and install them on your system, then use "Link to AMA volume..." to navigate to the ROOT FOLDER of your camera media, populate an AMA linked bin of clips, then immediately transcode those clips to the Avid Resolution of your choice. That way, you will be working inside the rock solid Avid media management world for your entire edit.

If the Sony software can't see them, I'm guessing Avid can't either. If you can't get the original cards/folder structure from the camera, my next step would be trying to import the files you've got. Do a test with the smallest/shortest file so you won't waste a ton of time if it doesn't work.

Hi Larry,
When you say 'I'm going to assume Sony XDCAM or XDCAM EX is your camera format' I'm not sure exactly what to say. Is the sony f55 xdcam ex?
So as far as I can tell I've downloaded and installed the necessary software and AMA plugins. I assume the latest Sony PDZ software takes care of AMA and I have also just installed the latest MXF software and upgraded MC to 6.5.2.
Is there any thing I might be missing here?
By the way the f55 footage is shot in S LOG 2 Gamma, 1920x1080p XAVC if that helps at all, and the files I'm trying to import are MXF.
Thanks
RE your last comment, I've tried to do a standard non ama import too but it just errors as I guess Avid doesn't support that.
I'm pretty sure the clips are ok but is there any sample media from an f55 in the same format available to download online anywhere? I've looked but no luck..
Thanks again
When I search details on that camera, it appears it only outputs in 2K or 4K, which will be supported in MC 7, but are not supported in MC 6, to the best of my knowledge. You could use Metafuze to convert them to a DnX format.
I'm pretty sure it does shoot in 1080p here's an extract from an article online about it: It seems like a camera which tries to please everyone: 4K, 2K and 1080p raw and compressed, without crop factors, high speed recording of up to 240 fps in 2K, SLog2 curve..
I've just double checked with the camerman and he has confirmed it is 1080p.
Thanks again for your help here.
OK, well if the camera does output in 1080p, you should be able to create a 1080p project, AMA link to those RAW files targeting the camera's root folder, and then transcode after the AMA bins are populated. Are you not able to do that?
It's been shot in XAVC as opposed to RAW. Although the file AMA importer doesn't error on import it does give me an error as mentioned above when I try to load the footage into the source monitor window...
Can anyone confirm what the folder structure for xavc clips should be?
I'm hoping this could be the key as to why Sony Content Browser cannot see the clips.
hi spencer,
here is the folder_structure attached
maybe a "wrong" copy - i would prefer shotput_pro.

and look here - same problem:

but, maybe with a solution for you.
good luck
Thanks Che that's really helpful. I'm going to follow it and try everything in the thread to get get this working!
Thanks Che, that saved my bacon!
Having installed the following softwares:
RAW Viewer v1.0.0.01180
PDZK-MA2 v2.31
PLAV-RW1 v1.1
SRPA-10 plugin v2.1
SxS UDF Driver v2.1.0.2
SxS Device Driver v1.03.00.09260
...from the following sony page:
http://www.sonycreativesoftware.com/download/software_for_sony_equipment
I can now happily say that I can link to individual AMA files in Avid through right click (inside bin) > Link to AMA file(s)
I still can't get Content browser to view the clips but I have a feeling this is because the folder structure wasn't intact though without having any access to any other XAVC sample footage I can't confirm if this is the problem.
If anyone had got any sample footage in XAVC format I would really appreciate if someone could give me access to it for further tests.
A little late but here is my AMA Tree
