New User Profile Created now Timeline Saves as Default

    Hello Everyone,

I encountered an error part way through my project that required me to create a new user profile. After creating the new user profile I was able to open my project and change all the settings. When I close and then open the project all my new settings appear except for the timeline doesn't update and look the same as when I last closed. For some reason the timeline keep going back to a default look. When I say default look I mean all the settings etc... inside the timeline are not the same as when I saved and closed the project. Let's say for instance I was working on audio in A1 and I had the size of that track enlarged. When I save and close and then reopen the timeline is back to the default size.

Can anyone help me please. Thank You.

    Jared:

When you resize tracks in your timeline, change track colors, etc., you must click on the timeline view window, which probably currently says "untitled", choose "save as", and name that particular timeline view. You can create and save as many customized timeline views as you want. You can even link a timeline view to a particular workspace (toolset), by using "link current to..." functionality.

    Thanks Larry!

Your help is always appreciated tons! I was not aware of the ability to save timeline views and link them to workspaces. I'm having a little difficulty finding where the "link current to" functionality is located. Thanks again! Without your help now and in the past I wouldn't have the knowledge of Media Composer that I do today.

You're welcome, Jared. Always glad to help out. In version 6, select a particular workspace, then right click and choose "properties" to get to the "link current to..." dialog.
