I need to import WAV files into MC 6.0 as OMFI audio files.
I don't see this option in the Audio or Audio Project settings. I've done this in 6.5 before, but in 6.0 I don't see this option.
I want Avid to do the OMFI conversion rather than using another program.
Ideas?
import as wav then export as omfi when you are done

thanks tom, but that's not what i'm trying to do. i need to import and convert to OMFI as the media comes into avid.
In your Audio Project Settings, set the media format to OMF-WAV or OMF-AIF. Done. Media will end up in a folder OMFI MediaFiles on your media drive.
It's not working. I called Avid tech support and they recommended downloading 6.5.2. I've done this and I still have the same problem. I've changed the settings in Audio Project to WAV/OMF but it still imports the audio as WAV.
Is it possible to call you to talk through?
They will appear as .WAV or .AIF, but they will live inside the OMFI MediaFiles folder. That's simply the three options you have: PCM-MXF or WAV-OMF or AIF-OMF.
If you need to export OMF compositions, you need to use File-Export and choose to export as OMF, either with embedded or with external (linked) media, consolidated or not.
OMF however is the 'old' way. MXF mediafiles and AAF composition exports are the more modern equivalent. In the old days, on Mac systems (NuVista, ABVB, Meridien), we used to have SD2 (Sound Designer II) files that may have actually had an .omf extension to them. We're talking 10 years ago, then.
Who is asking you for OMF and what for, if I may ask?
Job ter Burg:If you need to export OMF compositions, you need to use File-Export and choose to export as OMF, either with embedded or with external (linked) media, consolidated or not.
This option will only be available in an SD project.
If this is what you are trying to do just flip the project to SD.
I'm having the same issue, and cannot remember how I resolved it before.
Avid is creating an OMFI MediaFiles folder, but the format of the files in there are WAV, not OMFI files.
If anyone has an idea of how to fix this, please do tell.
I am trying to import WAV files as OMFI. My audio settings are set to import audio as OMF, but Avid is not creating 'real' OMFI files.
If it makes you happy, go into the OMFIMediaFiles folder and change the extension from .wav .omf (a batch renamer may be in order.) Avid will recognize them either way. The wav files are certainly "real."
