Media Resolution DNxHD 220/220x - where? How?

    Hello,

I am editing on a Media Composer 6.0.1.1 connected to ISIS 5000. Why don't I have the DNxHD 220/220x possibility in my Media Creation Settings? Do I have to download something?

What project format are you using?

For example, DNxHD 220 and DNxHD 175 are the same codec. It's just that 220mbps is the bandwidth when the codec is used with 60i footage, while 175mbps is the bandwidth when used with 24P footage. So if you're in a 23.976 project, you aren't going to see DNxHD 220.

    Hope that helps.

The project format is 1080/25p. The only choices I have are up to 185x. Is this then the same?

Don't forget DNX185 is 8 bit at 185mbps and DNX185x is 10 bits at 185mbps so although you are getting more bits with x you are having to compress slightly more to achieve the same datarate.

So if your source isn't 10 bit and you aren't delivering 10 bit theres little value in using 185x over 185.

If your source is 8 bit and you need to deliver 10 bit then x mayhelp if you plan to grade as it will allow finer grading steps.

If your source is 10 bit and you plan to deliver 10 bit then x is a must or you will quantise your content.
