You don't have an effect named Timecode in your IllusionFX category?

No, I don't. Where else could it be? The only timecodes I see are under Generator

The plugin looks good, but since I'm not an expert with computers, I'm always leery about adding something to my system when the sytem is working well. It may be unfounded worry, I may be paranoid, but it does give me pause.

    Ben Wilson:

What some of our producer/editors have done in the past for sending out video for transcribing is to place the clips to be transcribed on the timeline.  Drop the timecode effect on an empty video track above the clips.  Set the effect to display the source clip's timecode and the source clip name.  The timecode displayed then changed to the visible source clip along with the source clip name for the transcribers to use as a reference.  Not sure if that would do what you need if you have multiple video layers, but it may.

    Ben

Thanks. Timecode on an empty track might be a solution for me. I'll have to play with that and see if I can figure out how to make it work.

Enable Aux TC2 in the source bin

Enter 0 in Aux TC 2 column for the clips.

Add generator on the track above.

    Choose Other Counters.

    Current Track

    Auxiliary TC2

This I think will give you what you require.

Sorry either I didn't catch that or understand it at first. Also I was contemplating your question as to the difference between source set to zero and sequence set to absolute. It's all new to me. Thanks for the help.

It's actually in the Effects Palette under Generator.

Wow, I just saw the updated comment posted here - I guess my email filtering for the forums is wonky. Sorry I didn't see your response before. Hopefully, you've figured it out in the last 3 yrs.

You could get rid of the 'hour' digit by moving the TC window over to one side when setting the FX parameters like font size, position etc.... A kindergarten/nursery school solution that took me years to think of, in order to cut the frame numbers off in BITC if making playouts for translators; poor things, seconds are precise enough
