    What about Media log?

Just had a look at medialog and I'm saddened that it's not followed MC in usefulness.

I'd hoped that Media log could be Avid free cross platform tapeless logging and pre edit prep tool.

If it had the AMA plugins it could be used to mount AMA volumes. Log clips and pre bins prior to an edit.

Given to directors and producers it would make managing tapeless assets easier and make the next step to Avid as the edit system of choice a must.

OMFG, yes!  Logging tapeless assets is the biggest issue in front of many of us.  PLEASE add AMA capacity to media log!

You're right on point Pat!  I’ve spoken to Avid VPs at NDA meetings at NAB and private visits to our facility for more than 3 years now about this very thing.  The company’s unwillingness to even consider modifying Media Log or any other Avid software to allow for this is something I still don’t understand.

I can only hope if customers like us raise enough noise some movement will finally happen.

I glad it's not just me, my customers and students that can't understand why such a golden oppertunity is being overlooked.

Tapeless is the way it's going to go and for many in production and post the lack of the simple BITC DVD from the tape source for logging route is a real issue.

There are solutions to it of course and those solutions could determine the route through post from that point.

The answer that the various tapeless providers have solutions for that is of little help. The best of those solutions liek Sony's and Panasonics aren't great and the worst like Canon are hopeless. And many productions now deal with a whole collection of tapeless sources.

With Media log as a tool to mount AMA volumes, preview clips and log them would be a massive advantage for the rest of the Avid Post workflow.
