Hi. So before anything else here are quick specs. If more needed, let me know: Macbook Pro, 10.15.7; 8GB RAM; Dual Core Intel Core i5.
So I am taking a course on how to use the latest Avid Media Composer (it's been some years) and on the section on importing the options available to the instructor versus what's available to me are different. I will include pictures of instruction when the instructor is importing and pics of my work. When the instructor imports this is what you get:
Versus when I am getting ready to import a mov file; in that case this is what comes up:
When this happened I used Google to see if I could come up with an explanation for why this is happening and I found this old thread. My takeaway is that it's an issue with folks running Avid on Catalina: https://community.avid.com/forums/t/199784.aspx
So I have two questions...I wanted to be sure that this is in fact an OS issue. Is that the case?
Also, should I be concerned that these import options aren't available to me? If so, what are suggested workarounds? All help is appreciated in advance. I would really like to understand what's going on and how best to proceed. If I missed any specs or other info please let me know. Thank you.
Carlos....
You have got to be using an older. version of MC as i5 is not supported with the newer software versions which have more features than you are seeing. Also, 8GB is not enough....
Im surprised Catalina even installed....
What version of MC are you on and wghat version is your instructor? I can send along the differences ebtween the 2 if you let me know.

The version of MC I am using is the trial version, 2021.2.0, and the version my instructor is teaching is 2020.4 according to the notes. Thanks.
