  • Sibelius team meets with the Music Producers Guild

We were fortunate to participate in a Music Producers Guild "Face to Face" at Strongroom Studios, London last week. Sibelius team members Randy Fayan (Software Engineering) and Sam Butler (Head of Customer Support) and I discussed the future development of Sibelius software, Pro Tools and Sibelius integration, and Scorch Publishing.

The team had a very spirited discussion on topics ranging from emerging audio standards, music publishing, and creative music workflows within the Avid Pro Tools and Sibelius software applications.

The Music Producers Guild (MPG) was conceived and is supported by producers and engineers who are passionate about all aspects of making and recording music. It is a not-for-profit company run by volunteers from the membership.

Thank you to the MPG team for hosting this great meetup!

  • Sibelius team meets with the Musicians' Union

Musicians' UnionSam Butler (Avid Sibelius Staff Member) and I had a very productive meeting with the Musician's Union UK last week. We met with Naomi MacDonald, Secretary to the MU Music Writers' Section (MWS), and Andrew Green, media composer and MWS Committee member, and discussed the future of the Sibelius platform and Avid's commitment to its development.

Both Naomi and Adam expressed their concern over Avid's recent changes to the Sibelius development staff, and shared comments and emails from their members who depend on Sibelius for their professional lives.

The Musicians' Union has an excellent write-up of the meeting in their recent news article 'Update on the future of Sibelius'.
