There are a number of products designed to do just that. Look at Project Parking http://www.marquisbroadcast.com/project-parking.html But there are others as well. Remember that things get more complicated if you have things like P2 or XDCAM. You can't just take one clip from the set.

The Avid Spectramatte effect is pretty good. What was the green screen footage shot on? Thats normally the limitimng factor. Needs to be a 4:2:2 color space.

Set your drives in Media creation tool. Set them for HD and SD. Then drag the media creation setting to the site setting window. All new projects should adopt the now default media creation. That said MC for years has randomly changed the media creation location. Its just a bug thats never been fixed...

I have a windows 2003 R2 server that I use for central Project and media storage. No sharing required, only one editor at a time access that project and media but that works fine. We map a network drive and enable all drives in teh Avid console. Works fine.

How do you plkan to grade the final online content? resolve? I would transcode the finsihing media until you have a final sequence. Just relink back to the AMA and send to the grade. You maynot even need to make finsihing media in Avid if Resolve is used to grade.
