Good distraction from rotoscoping! Tried unzipping the new download in the "downloads"folder. Worked fine and the proper Install file was there. So it looks like a dodgy download previously. Or maybe just something random happened with the unzipping. Anyway, glad it's all working now! cheers Campbell

Downloaded the installer again and unzipped it at root level. This time there was an "install" programme at the top level that was missing previously. Used this to install everything successfully. So everything running fine so far :-) Thanks for the help! cheers Campbell

I was double-clicking on the "autorun" file which is what I usually do. Goes through to the installation splash-screen and I select the option to install the suite. Anyway, I found the Media Composer setup.exe, which looked promising and had slightly differenct graphics, but eventually came up with the same error. I'll try downloading

I'm getting an error message trying to install MC 8.1 in Windows 7 (64bit professional). The missing files (lots of dlls and other files) are supposed to be located in c:\Users\me\downloads\Media_Composer_8.1.0_Win\MediaComposer\program files\Avid\EDL Manager\*.dll The problem is that there is no "program files" folder, only a Program

If you can prep the images in Photoshop that would be easiest, then you canuse Avid P&Z. Otherwise Avid FX would be the best option, you can import the images and move them round like After Effects, crop and resize etc. cheers Campbell

The difference in visible quality probably depends a lot on the datarate you're using. If you were encoding at <1000 kbps you'd probably see a difference between the GPU/non-GPU version. I usually encode for youtube at 6000 - 12000kpbs (depending on the duration and how long I've got for the upload) so I doubt you'd see much visible

Just get one of the subtitles positioned how you want and then in the Effects Editor click on "Edit Global Properties" This opens up a new window where you can do things like save a Stylesheet (I subtitle several TV shows each week so I use this a lot).
