• Re: Which version did Avid fix Frameflex?

We've just taken a project off frameflex source settings and achieved the correct aspect ratio using the mask margins setting in the project 'Format' tab then enabling 'Target Mask' in the source / record composer windows. Simpler to set up, less error prone, tidier timeline and most inportantly, better for multi layer Vfx, particularly

  • Re: Advise on new video I/O card.

Hi Stefan I had an almost identical setup, 2010 MacPro and MX02. Now running with the Blackmagic Mini Monitor card and an SSD in one of the hard drive trays just for the system and Media Composer. Very stable, more than fast enough. Opening media composer or bins much improved, auto saving no longer slows the workflow. I've just finished a 7 month

  • Re: Mac Book Air and BlackMagic Mini Monitor

Earlier this year I used an Air with Thunderbolt Blackmagic MiniMonitor very successfully for 24p screenings. Picture quality was excellent, very much better than that available using the Air's HDMI output. The complication is on the audio side. With the Mini Monitor audio is embedded in the HDMI or SDI out so either the connection at the previewtheatre

  • Re: Can't remap F keys on old Apple Pro a1048 Avid-Style Keyboard

This is my keyboard of choice and I use it on a MacPro 2010 running 10.10.5 with no problem. I have it in both the bluetooth and wired versions. The 'F' keys and the pref pane that enables their function as standard keys works as you would expect. Right now I'm cutting with it on a windows based setup, working fine. User prefs don't

  • Re: Exporting True 2.35, Not Letterbox?

If your project is 1:2.35 masked out of an HD 1920x1080 frame then the pixel aspect ratio of your visible frame is 1920 x 817 (ignoring the fcactional pixels). Set the export type to Quicktime Movie, format to custom and Width x Hight to 1920 x 817 and select 'Crop / Pad' then when you select your prefered flavor of codec in 'Format Options'

  • Re: MC 7.0 & Matrox Mini
in case someone is wondering about support of the Matrox Mini in MC 7 ... so far the combo runs trouble-free on my machine. OS X 10.8.4 & Matrox 3.3 (3.3.0.0067)
Very interesting. Is that 'works' in the sense that the MX02 box works with MC 5.5? I've never used the MC 6 upgrade I bought or bought

  • Re: Upgraded MC6 Production Suite. Squueze problem

Hi Carl I followed the link. Complex page in true Avid style but careful reading suggests serials for Web upgrade orders are to be obtained via the 'MY ACCOUNT' portal, particularly the page with your history of product purchases / upgrades. I've got two dongle based systems regularly updated. Lots of serials on the page. It may be that

  • Re: upgrading with mx02

I've been using an MX02 Mini on a 12 core for about a year. It's very stable and has no lag - provided that your monitor doesn't introduce delay. With 5.5.3 I still experience memory leakage which can be a problem working with very big sequences (large numbers of events). On a day when I need to successively open big edits I'll probably

I posted the folowing about a week ago on another thread reporting problems with a fresh 5.0.3.7r install: I just did a fresh install of 5.0.3.7r on a new machine and got the DAE -9169 error. Uninstalled / reinstalled and couldn't get rid of it. I uninstalled again and then ran the older type installer for a copy of 5.0.2 I had lying around. Only

I just did a fresh install of 5.0.3.7r on a new machine and got the DAE -9169 error. Uninstalled / reinstalled and couldn't get rid of it. I uninstalled again and then ran the older type installer for a copy of 5.0.2 I had lying around. Only ran the main Media Composer install. That started with no error, even on OS X 10.6.5. I noticed that it had
