Larry - Roger that, thanks! I'm still trying to get my head around how Avid handles it's database, but yeah it made sense that I could move all the media into the exisitng OMFI folder, but contrary to what sep was saying, I didn't delete the .pmr and .mdb files, and it still restored fine and dandy. Thanks.

Joseph - I figured it out. Avid didn't seem happy that it was not on the root of the drive, so I moved all my media into the root level OMFI MediaFiles folder and it all showed up nice and happy. Thanks for your help.

Joseph - I already have an OMFI MediaFiles folder on the drive so I created a folder with my job code and moved the files in there. I renamed that folder OMFI MediaFiles. I opened MediaMover 3.0.2 and it didn't see the media (I guess it only looks at root level), but I selected "add folder" and it saw it and it says it's online, I

Diesele - I agree, I can't get Pan and Zoom to keep it's keyframe to save my life. What is the secret? The same proceedure in Boris Red takes a few seconds, but once one figures out how to get P&S to work it looks phenominal and Red not so much.

Swest - If you're going out to broadcast you shouldn't deinterlace. Also, regarding your black levels, when you make your QT reference file for pre-Sorenson, make sure to select 601 levels, not RGB, although I often too think the blacks are too grey and it can be hit or miss. 15Mbps to 25Mbps should be fine, since you can only watch these datarates

Joseph - I'm about to do my first restore on an Avid job and need some help. I have yet to get my dull head around the way Avid's databases work. I used Media Mover to move my job to our Network Area Server and then made an LTO. So I've restored the job to the NAS box and it's in a folder with my job code. Lots of omf and aif files in

720x512 makes no sense for NTSC. We're posting some spots in a few days, so we'll see what's up. XL 1.5 sounds like the ticket for doing this, save your custom preset once you get it down to a science, as it's often hit or miss.

PS: How can they gig you on 4:2:0 color space?? That's what MiniDV/DVCAM is. Personally I hate MiniDV and I'm a big DVCPRO50 4:2:2 fan, but BetaSP was something like 3:1:1 and before that we distributed a zillion spots to a ton of TV stations on 1". They have to except 4:2:0, but your other issue needs to be addressed.

I see from your profile you're in San Diego. Why are you trying to do 720x512 And yes? MPEG2 spec for SD is 720x480, and that's fine for DG. (Mpeg has to be able to be divided by 16) Don't waste your time on rendering a QT Animation file, a QT Ref file is much faster, providing your encoder will accept it. Otherwise, yes an Animation file

BCC's DVE is piss poor on doing pushes/pulls on an image, but the otherwise filters tend to be OK. Check the rendering settings in effects palate, like "quick" vs "best". If it looked OK before you put a filter on it, I'd assume it's something wrong with the effects settings, or the filter doesn't like the film's
