Hi, I captured succesfully minDV tapes recently using a Panasonic AJ-SD93E deck with a good old MacBookPro Mid 2012 with Firewire800 connection (the generation before Retina). Not sure, what MC version I used, but it wasnt too old. It only has to match with the OS (in my case Sierra). It worked very smoothly. You can use any other deck with Firewire400

The basic question should be: what is more important to you? Smaller file sizes or faster import/transcode? Animation codec within MOV makes small file sizes depending on the content This will result in longer import/transocde times beacause you have to get in playable codec in some way. This way should be fine if you have to transfer them all via internet

360 VR is pretty complex. One way to handle that directly within MediaComposer ist BorisFX Continuum VR. Look for "VR Unit for Avid Media Composer". If you want to mix 360VR and 2D elements like fonts or "normal" rectangle footage, you will need After Effects. They call that "immersive". HTH pixel

I assume you imported the graphic files with the RLE option checked. Try to import it uncompressed. It helped in my case. HTH pixel

As far as I now, you cannot export ProRes within an AAF in any way. Neither consolidate (copy) to folder or embedded into AAF. You have to transcode it first into something else.
