  • Re: Converting Betacam SP to HD?

Thanks, Pat. But does this mean I can't really do it on my own? Yes the tapes are important. They were shot in 2000 but are still in good shape. The purpose is my own personal video art reclamation/conservation project for which I happen to have many camera originals as well as Masters that need to be migrated to contemporary formats. I cannot afford

Tom - thanks for your reply, but can you give me a specific model number? I have been searching online and am confused by the many boxes and descriptions. marluc

  • Converting Betacam SP to HD?

I have many Beta SP tapes that I have shot over the years, which I want to convert to a digital format in Avid. I have a UVW-100 Beta deck, and can work on either of two computers with two different versions of Media Composer. My Mac Pro laptop (2011) is currently running v.6.5.2.2 with OS X 10.8.5; my iMac is new and is runing v. 7.0.3 with OS X 10

  • Re: Relinking offline files

To anyone following this thread: I solved the problem. Finally re-read Pat's post and got rid of the sub-folders, putting the media files directly in the numbered folders. Moved the OMFI files to the same level as the initial MediaFiles folder, which seems to work; let's hope it is ok. Anyway, all Media Files are accessible now. Thanks Pat.

Pat, Also forgot to add that also inside 2,3,4 is an OMFI MediaFile folder, which contains only its media files. marluc

Pat, Thanks for what sounds like a brilliant, simple solution. I followed the steps but no success. Wiwthin each of my 2,3,4 there is another Avid MediaFiles, within that an MXF, within that a 1, and within that all the media files. Is that the correct structure? marluc

  • Relinking offline files

Sorry for pursuing a topic that has been addressed a lot here, but none of the previous threads seemed to help me. The problem is simple: I had to migrate media from an old Mac Pro to a new drive. The old media was stored on internal drives HD2, HD3, HD4 in the old computer. All media files were transferred to a new 4T G-Raid Thunderbolt drive with

  • Re: iMac NVIDIA GeForce?

Thanks, Bobcat. I'm going ahead with my purchase. BTW what I think is criminal is how the tech companies create planned obsolescence so that you HAVE to buy a new machine even if the old one is perfectly functional. We used to complain about car manufacturers doing this, but at least it is considered quite respectable (and practical)--even cool

  • iMac NVIDIA GeForce?

I am about to purchase as suped-up as possible iMac to replace my old and unfortunately expired Mac Pro. I would appreciate anyone taking the time to answer several questions that I have about this. 1.Is the NVIDIA Ge Force GTX 780 card suitable for Media Composer 7? 2.All USB slots are for USB-3. Will that affect my old dongle? Can I upgrade it when
