  • How do I export 10-bit uncompressed files?

Everyone tells me that 10-bit uncompressed files are the archival standard for museums and other institutions. How do I output and how do I know for sure that it is 10-bit uncompressed? marluc

  • Re: Glyph drive issues

Leet's put it another way. What do you find is the very best, most reliable hard drive to use with your Avid system? Thanks. marluc

  • Glyph drive issues

I have been buying Glyph hard drives for years, must have 8 or more attached to my edit system. I have always thought they were the best of the lot. However, not too long ago I got a 10TB Studio Raid and have been having lots of problems with it. Sometimes it won't mount at all. Sent it back for repair once, worked fine for a while, now it won't

  • Moire and Neat Video

I purchased Neat Video, as recommended by someone on this forum and am surprised how nicely it cleans up my old 3/4'footage. One problem remains, though. I still have a moire kind of pattern in very bright spots and wonder if anyone knows how to clean that up in Neat Video. Thanks, marluc

  • Re: How to reduce video flicker?

Just wanted to report that this issue has been solved, and as I suspected, the flicker problem was NOT in the video--that was solid as a rock. But in the large monitor itself. It has many adjustments, and I finally found the one that eliminates the flicker. Why the PVM-3230 has this problem and the 2530 and 2030 don't I cann't explain. All are

N Ryan, To be clear, I transferred the 3/4"tape to DVCAM, not really HD. It seemed to work like any tape dub. The capture was as SD, 4:3 screen ratio. All my footage is interlaced, so there seemed not to be an issue there. But you may be right that the basic problem is there. However, then why would some monitors play the footage perfectly well

Thanks Andrew, I will give this a try and will look for the BCC option. Could this have anything to do with luminance, being tht it was shot directly into the sun? marluc

  • How to reduce video flicker?

I am reviving an old work from 1979 that was shot on 3/4"tape. There are seven channels in the installation. I have transfered the tapes to digital by copying from a V0-9800 recorder/player (lucky to find a good one still available) to DVCam HD tape, then capturing that footage in Avid. Then I will output them to .mov files and convert those to

  • Re: Video noise reduction

I'm bumping this. Someobdy else must have experience with older video footage that has noise. We used to be able to reduce it when editing from 3/4" to 1" tape, but that was back in the dark ages! You'd think, in this super-digital time, that there would be something akin to what Photoshop has for images that could be applied to video
