  • Re: MC 8.2 Segmentation Fault when using "moncon off"

Hi, So, when it comes to building Media Composer Clients, I deal in "Images" and what I know works. 10.9.2 and MC8.x has been very stable on my deployments. Now, 10.9.4 should be fine too as there were not a lot of changes under the hood that affect Avid, I just have not deployed it yet. 10.10.x is great for stand a lone Macs (I run it on

Right, so understand that what Bob and I are giving you are the best practices for the ISIS systems. Lots of changes have gone into the code even between v7 and v8 so the upgrade to the ISIS core is a good idea. When yoiu run Macs, resticting the Network connections to ISIS helps to cut down on the network overhead that the Apple products have. If you

The upgrade and the cleaner net will help with speed. That spinng ball you are getting is the system trying to reconcile all the network and background services you have running. Do you have Interplay?

Thanks Bob, that was my suggestion as well. I was just base-lining the client and then we can talk about the ISIS version. Bob is correct though, the 4.7.3 client and Backend is much more Mac friendly than previous version. Let's look at that last. If Bob can't get you going here, nobody can! I am suggesting that you NOT conect that second NIC

So your workstations are dual connected to ISIS? Are they in the same VLAN (is this a 7k or 5k ISIS?). We don't support dual homing your network to two different LANs so, if that PCIE card goes to a different network, that could be a problem. If you need Internet access, it's best to give that to the switch in your ISIS LAN and restrict access

Permissions on a Mac are ALWAYS an issue. Even though everything is stored on your ISIS, you still have data being written and re-written to settings files on your HD.

Yeah, when running an ISIS, I would be surprised if your workstations were under-spec'd. The steps I hae outlined are just to base-line your stations and ensure you are running in best-practices. Let's get there first and see what we can see. Another thing that I do on my builds is to add the OS user to the permissions I mentioned above with

Best OS for 8.2 right now is 10.9.2 so stay with that.

Which site is this, if you don't mind me asking. Did Avid build your ISIS and editors?
