• Re: AVCHD editing
Sorry, I was in two posts at the same time and mixed them, this was the thread I had in my mind, works very well with AVCHD clips, sorry if I got you confused, the man is getting old ... edited.. not so old, we have actually been discussing this workflow on this page, page 4, even in this thread
Thanks.
I guess that one of the ups with using the encoder we just mentioned is the possibilities to use AMA for direct import, works very nice, Procoder might create a file if it works and in that case, with the correct settings, it might fast import, the AMA workflow is much faster and easier I think. Does anyone know if Procoder 3 can do this conversion as well? I don't have files to test here, but I did confirm that Procoder 3's "Quicktime plugin" conversion allows you to select DNxHD codecs for "quicktime movies." I also know that Procoder specs state the ability to read AVCHD files. The only question seems to be whether

I'd be interested in hearing your experiences as well. If you do try it, the following thread may be helpful to you: http://community.avid.com/forums/p/61129/342973.aspx#342973 This thread outlines the various tricks used to get Geforce cards to work with Avid. Note that I'm using a Geforce 8800 GTS 512 with XP, and the "Turn off threaded

  • Re: Avid Documentation on folder permission issues.

Thanks -- that looks more along the lines of what I remember. It looks like the end result is generally the same as what I ended up with ("full" control for "Everyone"), but it was helpful to confirm this with the info you linked to. Thanks again, Larry

  • Re: Old projects -- bin background color much too dark.

Thanks. I actually had to close and re-open Avid to finally get the "Set Bin Background" to offer the color selection. For some reason, selecting "Set Bin Background" did not do anything until I restarted Avid. I also found that once I had viewed the Interface preferences in order to confirm the color I wanted to use, the "Set

Thanks for the tip -- I doubt I would EVER have figured out that "deselect tracks" step. The only problem is that the timeline already IS the correct color -- it's JUST the bin that has the dark gray background. I'm not in front of my system right now, but do you know if there is some similar trick to changing the bin background color

  • Avid Documentation on folder permission issues.

There used to be some Avid Knowledge Base documentation about folder permission issues with Avid. I just ran into one of these issues on a new system, so I tried to find these documents. I found the forum posts that referenced the documents, but the links led to KB pages that said "no longer available." I went to the KB and did some searching

  • Old projects -- bin background color much too dark.

When I open some of my old projects (created in earlier versions of Avid) in MC, the bins are a very dark gray -- much darker than the "normal" gray color that they're supposed to be. I tried selecting different "Interface" settings, but even though OTHER parts of the screen change when I do this, the bin background remains the
