I'm glad to see that this thread is still helping people. Just to update this with my own experience; as reported by others, I did not need the "Threaded Optimization" fix with MC5.0.3 on Win7 64bit and a Geforce GTX 460. Everything worked fine for me with the default settings on this setup. At this point, the evidence seems to indicate

Thanks for the responses. Fendstrat -- I sent you an email via the "contact" menu. Is this okay, or did you mean to use the "Start a conversation" option? Larry

I'm trying to get MC 5 installed on a fresh system. I was previously using an earlier version of Avid (MC 3.x), so I need to update the dongle, but it isn't working. I followed all the instructions, including using the correct version of DongleManager that installed with the latest version of MC 5 (5.0.3), and I went to the Avid registration

It seems like sound cards (i.e. not on-board audio) still offer the advantage of taking work off the cpu, so if I do decide to go with a sound card, does the SB x-fi titanium work okay with Avid? This seems like the current "main" SB card, and I can't use my Audigy 2 with the new system due to PCI slot restrictions. Thanks again, Larry

Over the past several years I've always used a Soundblaster audio card for Avid systems (the most recent of which was an Audigy 2 ZS, which was actually a holdover from a previous system.) This was due to various problems that were reported when using on-board audio such as Realtek. I always just used the SB cards without even trying on-board audio
I'm testing a GH1 to see if I'll use it. The 720p60 is actually no longer a problem.
Could you give some details of how you solved the issue? What did you do different that now allows you to import the footage without getting the "framerate does not match" error? Thanks, Larry

Thanks for the replies. editmk -- you wrote:
I use eSata drives and I think they rock. When I connect a USB drive and copy using teracopy I get 22MB/s speed on average. On eSata single drive I get about 50MB/s.
50MB/s seems rather low to me for a current 7200rpm SATA drive. What drive are you using? 100MB/s plus

I've always used internal drives for media (sata II - 3.0 Gb/s at the moment), but I'm considering switching my paradigm to external media drives for organizational purposes. Is there any general consensus as to what the type of external drive interface is best for this application -- i.e. esata, usb 3.0, etc? My experience with usb 2.0 drives

I'm exporting a 23.976p NTSC project as a QuickTime Reference file for encoding to DVD. I noticed that the final output (via Cinema Craft Encoder Basic) has a strange "stutter" to the motion. It isn't particularly visible if there is a lot of action or inconsistent motion, but as soon as there is any "smooth," consistent

Thanks for the clarificaiton.
And that upgrade offer ends tonight at midnight. So you need to act fast at this point and get yourself in under the wire. Time is running out.
The cutoff is apparently July 10th (this is what the store page states), so there is still a little time left. Thanks, Larry
