  • Re: Avid Media Composer 5 announced!

Holy crap. Well done Avid. Next key question: how much to upgrade from MC4? Very happy about Canon DSLR support, if Canon would hurry up and add manual audio control to the firmware for the 550D it'll become the perfect indie cinematography tool. ProRes support is a great move, will now be able to collaborate better with my FCP toting colleagues

  • Re: Vista Ultimate doesn't see my JVC BR-HD50

I've had issues with my JVC HD101E not showing up - solved them by manually picking the driver for it. Go to your Device Manager, see if it's listed in there as something generic like "AV/C Subunit". Go in and pick Update Driver and manually select one from the list of already existing drivers. There should be a generic sounding JVC

  • Re: Pan & Zoom broken in MC 4.0.2

Looks like P&Z is indeed buggy in 4.0.2, can someone moddish do the escalation dance with this thread and get someone at Avid to take a good hard look at P&Z?

There's definitely something up with P&Z - I was also getting problems with my source images just flat out disappearing after I did another P&Z effect somewhere else. If I went back to the P&Z with the missing source and hit the little browse button it'd refresh it (without me needing to select it again).

I was having a similar problem - using the Clear All Caches command within the P&Z plugin seemed to fix it. My problem may have been different though...

  • Re: Pan & Zoom broken in MC 4.0.2

Who's upset? Don't mistake a strong opinion for an emotional one ;) This is not a feature request. The simple fact is, when you do a video mixdown of a sequence, the result should be the exact equivelant of the fully rendered playback of a sequence. Anything else is illogical, unintuitive, and despite what you said earlier about reading the

[quote user="luca.mg"] To the moderators: I find it disappointing to have people complaining about supposedly broken features or software bugs just because the software doesn't work the way they want it to work and don't carefully read the manual, I think that alarming/misleading title threads like this one should be rectified...

  • Pan & Zoom broken in MC 4.0.2

Pan & Zoom is failing me in 4.0.2. If I do a video mixdown of a sequence with a Pan & Zoom effect in V2 that dissolves at the end (25 frame dissolve aligned to finish with clip end) so it fades to V1, it cuts to black when the dissolve starts and just dissolves from black instead of from my clip. It doesn't do this when you scrub along the

  • Re: Undocumented Bonuses in MC3.5

That's odd, I don't have the right driver and Avid doesn't say a word. Which is fine with me :)

  • Undocumented Bonuses in MC3.5

Been playing with the 3.5 trial a little (now, I imagine like many indies, isn't a great time to be splashing out on an upgrade that is no doubt even pricier to Australians). Thought I'd start a thread with some of the nice little things I've noticed so far that Avid hasn't mentioned, and see if anyone else has found any. -No more asking
