SD 25p? Yes 1080p25? Yes 720p25? Not friggin likely anytime soon despite continued promises

Your footage needs to be converted to MPEG2 somewhere along the line. I haven't used DVD Architect but it's likely it has a built in MPEG encoder. Read the guides jwrl linked to and you'll learn all about the magic of QT Ref files.

You may have better luck capturing with CapDVHS then importing the mpeg into a 720 project in Avid. Which sucks, but at least you can edit your res natively .

There's a few threads on the best method of getting to DVD from Avid - I personally use TMPGEnc Xpress 4 to convert QT Ref's to MPEG2's, then Adobe Encore 2 if I'm producing a full DVD or just TMPGEnc DVD Author if I just need to get the MPEG2 onto a playable DVD. Avid comes with Sorenson Squeeze which if you update to the newest version can give you

Yeah if it ain't broke don't fix it. I actually just today changed to an unsupported driver cos the supported one was giving me Access Violation errors, the latest driver seems to work fine so far (using Classic Control Panel instead of that ridiculous new one).

Not sure where you can get the newer Digidesign driver but not having one would definitely give you audio issues. Did you install XP Pro? Make sure you use the correct NVIDIA driver - which one you need depends on your Avid version, check the readme.

Well, I've never sent Marianna an unpleasant email and I certainly don't want anyone doing so, but you can see why. Avid's put her in the firing line with no one else to shoot. We're suffering from a ridiculous lack of communication from Avid on this issue, and all we have as far as an actual Avid contact is Marianna. If her superiors started treating

You don't want overlays turned off - overlay is what Avid uses to play back video. Yep, Avid can be a bit of a pain in the *** on unsupported hardware, but once you get it working in my opinion it's the best cutting interface around. Certainly the best under WIndows. And it's actually a lot better with unsupported hardware than FCP - try building your

Which version of Xpress Pro are you using? It sounds like you have video overlay troubles, as Kenton said it's most likely related to your video card. Avid much prefers NVIDIA to ATI cards, in fact the advantages you get in 5.5+ only work with an NVIDIA card. Looks like you're not too worried about having a completely supported system (same here), but

Well the Edius 4.03 trial I got can't seem to capture anything from my HD100, so that's not a great start. I've sent off a support request. I still haven't got a response from Marianna.
