  • Re: 2018.8 external timecode crash

The digibeta 500P deck is connected to the com port via an RS422 convertor. In this way the timecode and control is through the Serial Com port. I dont have a DV / HDV connection to test. The vision and audio will capture correctly if I dont use the deck timecode so I guess its something to do with the COM port. I will revert to 2018.7 and see if it

  • 2018.8 external timecode crash

When capturing from a deck, at the end of the capture I get a full blown PC crash BSOD with error DPM watchdog violation. No issues with internal timecode ( deck remote control off), just external timecode from the deck with or without deck remote. This was OK for me in 2018.7 Anyone else seeing this?

  • Re: Media Composer 8.4.2 and Intensity Pro 4K

Whilst not relevant to your issue, I have just replaced my broken Nitris with an intensity pro 4K and it works perfectly with 2018.7, windows 10 and latest drivers. It's quieter, scrubs faster and boots quicker. I have no need for SDI outputs anymore as everything is deliverd by files so this card is just for monitoring.

  • Re: Nitris DX not connecting

Hi, Thanks for the reply Yes I did install the new drivers and it has been working with 2018.7 but now stopped. The issue is that it does not appear in the Win 10 device manager ( under sound, video and game controllers) The other clue is the solid amber host link light. I believe that should flash green / amber after boot and green when MC has run.

  • Nitris DX not connecting

  • Re: MC 2018 cc effect instead of normal colour correction?

To avoid stepping in, put the final colour effects onto an upper track rather than nesting. There is a trick that allows you to sub divide the upper track to match the edits on V1. I now have symphony but my MC workflow used to be: V1 = main edit apply a Reformat effect to V3 ( for example) use the sub divide function on the Reformat tool ( referencing

  • Re: Colour Correction correcting wrong clip

Yes this has been around for a long time. It can be confusing! In effect mode it is possible to select and highlight a clip in the timeline. If you are in colour correction mode AND effect mode AND you have a clip selected, your colour correction will affect the highlighted clip, not the one where the blue play line is sitting. The solution, as you

  • Re: Slog3-Cine3 to LC709 with Symphony.

Correct me if I'm wrong but I believe a LUT must be applied before any correction because it is designed to reverse the slog curve from the camera. If correction is applied first, correction curves will not work as designed. If the LUT is applied first and the camera is using the full range of Slog it WILL clip the highlights / lowlights. Because

  • Re: Possible to Customize Pulldown Menu Item List?

You can assign a button or a keyboard key to a menu item through the command pallet. I use this all the time for common operations such as freeze frame, import, export, render in- out. During editing you can pretty much avoid the messy, now very long and multi layered menus.

jef - agreed! Symphony CC was revolutionary when it was bought out but nothing has been improved or changed over the years. ( I bet nobody is left at Avid who knows how it works!) The fundimental point of Slog is to allow greater dynamic ranges and it is entirely lost if the LUT is pre applied and burnt in before CC takes place.
